As of March 1 2010 the regulation that requires you to wear your license above the waist is no longer in effect. You are just required to have it with you. I have always hated this regulation! :luxhello: and never adhered to it :sifone: I liken kayaking to diving where it is not required. I was checked on the beach last time at LJ and pulled it out of my pelican case with no problems.

Good to know.
Although, I have never followed that rule either and never been hassled.

DFG wardens decided long ago that they would not enforce that rule. Now you don't have to look like a turd with a day glow license hanging from your hat or shirt. Or even worse, lose the dang thing because if falls off.

When did the regulation that requires you to wear your license above the waist go into effect? Must of missed that one. LOL. I've been checked many times and it never came up.

You can thank Tom Raftkin for that one, that's the first issue he worked on after leaving United Anglers.

It's not a big deal but it's nice to know that the wardens now can't harrass you for what was a stupid and mostly unenforced rule.

I've always hated that rule and have never followed it, glad to see it go. Now if we can get the MLPA to go away we're set.

'Bout time, not that I ever adhered to it, diving, kayaking or boating. In the digital age where they are going to run your name/number anyways what's the point? I feel the same way about auto insurance, no matter what, they will run your license and insurance, and I have had the police officer tell me my insurance company doesn't exist...
