Fished the outgoing tide this morning with my son, on the tandem. He's off for 2 weeks spring break. We missed a TON of fish. I think most were micro halibut, as we had numerous ones follow the plastic to the surface. Alot of short bites and some surprizingly coming unbuttoned on the way up. I ended up with a spottie and a sandie, good for the monthly slam on WCB :D My boy did not want to quit, he just could not get one to stick. He did likely lose the best fish of the day, as his rod went deep BENDO, tip deep in the water, taking line and then popped off. Great morning on the water. We plan to hit again next week, before he is back in school. Loads of quality time fer sure.
We started out throwing the Shad Rap and Fat Free Shad, but switched to 4 and 5 inch swimbaits on 6 pound P line.

Andy, Iheard there is a lot of short butts on the west end of the bridge on both sides. Did you throw the brown w/ orange bellies in there? We fished the south side of the bridge a week or so ago and the fish were thick in that spot and were pretty shallow 5 feet. Good luck and remember they grow up and soon out fish the old man!! Cris GOOD LUCK :D

YES
There was alot of smelt or grunion around. I did not have any brown/ orange, but did not seem to get bites on the halloween or watermelon, the chovy and smelt patterns worked well, it just took me awhile to remember how to fish the bay. :D
My boy did not want to quit
Ya gotta love that...great job there Dad! :D

I hit tidelands with my daughter Jane on Sunday.
I got skunked, lots of short biters.

WHAT HE HECK -
:?: I am not familiar with the area...I don't see any golf courses in the pics either?
Are you sure a golf ball sniper isn't on the bridge? The ball-o-matic 3000 shoots pretty far. I have never heard of anyone else having problems with incoming flying golf balls in the bay?
Good job dads! Great way to spend quality time with your kids.
Your kids will always remember kayak fishing with dad. :D
