Hey Hobie Users...

Hey Guys,

I was just looking for some feedback. Does anyone use the Hobie Adventure? Within a year, I am more than likely going to need a new yak. There are few different models I am considering, but as far as a Hobie, the Adventure looks nice. I understand it is a Beast at 16'...but it looks fast, as well as sea worthy. Now, I am not bashing Hobie, but I have also heard of certain models having issues with leaks in the hull...is the Adventure one of them? I currently paddle a 14', so the 16' of the Adventure does not concern me. I have also paddled a Hobie once before, and I actually enjoyed it. I have also seen the Pro Angler, but I honestly just do not like the way it looks...and it is also heavy. I mean no offense to anyone who has one. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...:)

Just yesterday I was talking to a self-professed "Hobie guy" who compared Outback, Revo and Adventure from his own experience. His pick was Revolution, I gather, as a good compromise that works in the LJ surf launch. One thing he disliked about Adventure is the distance to the forward hatch, so if you get serious about the adventure, be sure to try out the hatch if you consider it important.

i have an Outback, and the main thing I love about it is this: even when I don't get out very often I can still go the distance and keep up with others without much strain. It does not really paddle well imho, and I enjoy paddling--I just don't stay in condition to do it very well these days. I have not fished the other two Hobies, but I have paddled the 2009 Revo. it paddled better than the Outback, but to me, even with a rudder the Revolution did not paddle or track as well as a 14-16 ft Prowler or Tarpon with no rudder. So if i can swing a second boat one day, it will probably be in that category.


As for problems with the Hobie, I've certainly had no leaks and really no mechanical problems at all with mine.

Have had two Adventures and they are nice boats. No leaks for me on either. I wouldn't even worry about a leak since if by the odd chance you got one, Hobie stands by their products and would most likely replace the hull free anyway.

I have tried all of the Hobie kayaks and if I was not so tall and need the small amount of extra leg room in the Big A, I would have chosen the Revo. Best combination of all boats in one for size, speed, stability, etc.

Being that you are in FL, and depending on what kind of fishing you do (flats, etc. ) I would not rule out the Pro Angler. Being able to stand up and sight fish to Tarpon, Reds, etc. sounds like a blast! Good luck in your decision.
