We fished Cabrillo today around the San Pedro Bait Barge, traffic wasn't to bad, more boats than fish though. It was our first day out on our yaks, I ended up with a 17" sandie on a Berkley Big Gulp Grub, pulled him out of the kelp. I kept it alive until we got back to the launch site, snapped a pic(left the camera in the car), put it back in the water and helped it swim away to fight another day. I also got a nice hit while dragging bait on the bottom, it was it tore up my bait pretty good. I'm sure it was a hali but without landing it it's tuff to say.
When we got back to the beach it was a madhouse:eek:...people everywhere!!! As soon as we landed we had a welcoming committee:ciao::ciao::ciao:, people on us like flies on........you know. How much did the canoe cost? Canoe:confused: Where were you fishing:reel:? I had to push a few kids:bigear: away from the yak, they started snooping around, literally. I didn't want to be mean to the buggers but I still had some swimbaits and irons on the poles.
Anyway, it was nice to finally put the yaks to use, we need to work on a few things before our next trip. We're planning a trip to La Jolla in a few weeks, hope the two hour drive pays off.
