I owe this to the mad sci. I have been Kayak fishing for one year
this month. Mad sci says friends don't let friends fish bass. (should
have said bay bass) I have caught so many bay bass that I won't eat.
Waist of time and money. I don't have a job right now, so I got to feed my family. Ghost 48.5lb 53 inchs long.
Photos to come as soon as I read how to post.

a little help with your photo BWE

I got to the launch at 10:00 or so in morning. Just in time to see the
early crew coming in. Took my time setting up. Got launched around
11 or so. I went to the inside corner to find bait. Spent a long time
c&r top smelt on the sabiki. Switched to a hulla grub on a 3/8 leadhead.
Bang a big greenback, 13inch. I'm happy I got something to fish with.
I pedal for deep water as fast as I can. Right before I reach 65ft depth,
I pick up another greenback, 12inch. I pedal out past the kelp. I rig up
a dropper loop with 6 oz and drop the smaller mac down to the bottom.
I reel it off the bottom a few cranks and start to cruze. I did'nt make it
to 70 ft depth before the clicker goes off. I reach for the rod, put it in
gear, and take off the clicker. At the same time I'm doing a fast hard turn
into the fish. I can feel the fish has the bait and is just cruzing, not really
running. I am facing the fish now, and because I fish a Hobie Adventure
I pedal as fast as I can towards the fish. All the time I am reeling line
in to keep the line taunt. I feel the fish stop. I lifted the tip of my rod
and set the hook. In setting the hook I kept steady pressure on the
fish which turned the fish towards me. The fish makes a run right at me.
I pedal as fast as I can reeling line in as fast as I could. The fish gets
a clue not to far from me and starts to run away from me. I follow
and keep him on a short line. This time I bring her up to where I can
just make out a white ghost. The fish takes a dive but stops short of
the bottom. This time I bring it up and I see its a giant white sea bass.
The fish starts to dive again so I take this time to grab my gaf,
game clip, and sheers. This dive I could feel the fish tiring. I brought
the fish up along side as I slipped the gaf into the water. The fish just
glided over my gaf. I lifted with a steady presure for a perfect gaf.
I just kept lifting until the fish was in the Adventure. I grabed the sheers
cut the gills, flipped her over, cut the other gills, slipped on the game
hook. I put the head down by my pedals with my leg over the fish.
I figured the fish was most secure like this. One of the reasons I
went with the Hobie Adventure is that it is a good paddler. Because
the fish was so big I coud'nt use the pedals the way I had the fish.
I grabbed the oar and started the 2 mile paddle back. A little ways
from the bouy I ran into MIke who took a couple of on the water
shots. (Thanks Mike) made the landing with flat conditions, and
the rest is dinner.

Congrats on the good grub for your family. When you include the photos with this post be sure to tell us where you caught it, on what, etc.
Again good job, especially if it's your first white from a kayak.

Still trying to figure out momentoffame. I have the head in the fridge.
Who should I turn this into. I do want to keep the ancient local
currency. (ie: stones)
