Fished La Jolla in the evening on my relatively new kayak and landed my first two fish off of it.....Super stoked! I had two poles out and I just checked on my bait and as I was dropping the second line down when the first pole had a subtle bite so I grabbed the pole and on the next subtle bite I set the hook and it was game on...Funny I caught a 6 inch bass just prior to that bite and it hit much harder.....at that exact moment my second pole which was on the clicker and sitting under my leg starts to go off as well (didn't have time to set it in pole holder)......two fish on at the same time:) The first fish started to B-line it to the kelp and I thought for sure it was going to be a YT and the second fish was running to Scripps pier? I got the first fish to color, set the gaff and then lost the gaff momentarily and eventually placed the WSB onto my lap.........broke in my new CalStar Jigstick and man my X-13 is so tippy compared to the X-FActor (29 inches wide vs 34 inches makes a huge difference). While dealing with the first fish I looked around to see if someone was around to hand over a pole but the nearest guy was maybe 100 yards away......and as I was securing the first fish that guy who turned out to be Dave (Knuk) had paddled over to me to see what was going on and offerred to lend a hand...... I told him there was a second fish on and we soon found out it was wrapped up into some kelp nearby .....so Dave was unbelievably cool and began to cut away the kelp as we got over it and I could feel the spectra doing its thing and eventually we had color on the second WSB (which was the bigger of the two).......freakin awesome and one of my favorite fish caught thus far in La Jolla (almost only fish)......Dave with a sweet first assist went on and hooked me up with a few water shots, offerred a beer (eventhough he was out), and offerred to paddle the second fish in for me:you_rock:.......more photos on the beach and then Dave and I each drove home with a WSB (sorry I took the larger of the two).......SandyDiego had a scale on the beach and they were around 43 lbs and 34 lbs......very memorable cherry poppers on the new YAk:) and a great way to meet someone on the water......oh yeah, then I got stung by a bee on the beach, removed the stinger, popped some benadryl (allergic to bees) and made it home without falling asleep or going into anaphylaxis
