They guess a 20 plus GWS. Followed the kid around for a while. They are all playing freeze frame in the picture trying to get him to leave. Drive by landlords are common in this area.

I'm not calling BS, just interesting that a 20' shark didn't disturb the water at all.

This is off a report on the Norcal Board. These are well known longtime yakfishers up north. Not the type to BS. Polygamist Al and I had a similar experience in the same area a couple years ago.
id expect to see the upper caudal lobe too... cool pic none the less and im sure ill keep this in mind when fishing Seaside - uh, thanks!

The pic was taken as the shark was going under, the fin was actually 3-4 feet tall earlier, sounds like they got a good ID, 12 feet from dorsal to snout, white on it's bottom. Big ass shark.

I doubt this is a BS photo/post from the NorCal guys. I think their length estimate is off but Big Sur is super sharky and a big GW sighting is commonplace.
For Big Sur, I'll stick to the camping, nice vistas and outdoor :canabis:
Here's a couple of sweet photos I found on that board.

The dorsal fin doesn't look right. It looks Photoshopped.
Looks like a sinking kayak.....nose up

The picture is 3D after your second brownie. 20 feet of apex predator WILL disturb the water.

Calling a definite B.S. on this one. Got me!
There is no reflection on the water from the fin. Seems strange since evrey other object has one. Maybe its a vampire shark?

Honestly, I believe that this is a normal occurence especially in that area and definitely not far fetched. The pic is naturally subject to objectivity. Very cool pic if its legit. Did these guys post a story or something on another board? Seems like it would be a good read.

I'm glad I made your day a little brighter. :luxhello::luxhello::luxhello::the_finger::luxhell o::luxhello::luxhello:
The story sounds like someone bought 'Bruce' from the movie Jaws at a swap meet and decided to fuck with their friends with a little underwater remote controlled dramatics.

One time when we were surfing in Puerto Escondido, a bunch of sharks swam between us and the beach. Scared? Sure, but what are the options? Swim in or surf in? In Central America, I saw black tip reef sharks every day and great whites swimming along the ledge of the continental shelf of the big surf days.
Compared to that, sitting on my kayak without my legs dangling in the water is no threat. Personally, I don't think a shark is going to try and eat a 13' piece of plastic when there are so many sea lions for dinner.

A number of attacks on Hobies (red seems to be the color of choice)
BATTLE-SCARRED KAYAK TELLS THE TOOTHY TALE – Relieved Concord resident Dan Prather displays the damage caused to his kayak by a suspected great white shark. Prather was fishing a mile from Bean Hollow State Beach on Saturday when he was knocked into the water by a violent impact from below. After a harrowing few moments watching the shark chew on his boat, the uninjured Prather regained his seat and sprinted for the safety of the beach.

the shark was playing freeze frame as well:)
However, there are some big predators in the ocean that probably see a kayak like one nice Rapala
could be a Basking shark fin... witch is the only shark with that sorta shape of fin.
It aint to great white.
