give Kayak Fishing Supplies a call (866) 587-2990.
I am sure they'll know what you're talking about. If they have it, they'll set you up with it, or have some advice for you.

would a brass thread insert for wood work?i have never used them for plastic but i do use them in wood at work. they have aggressive threads and should
bite well in plastic. http://rtlfasteners.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/112550-116619.gif

That is a Molded In Insert not a Well Nut, that is likely why Wildy was confused.
The easiest fix is going to be just to drill the 3/8" hole in the location that the Insert was and then use that well nut they sent you.

FYI.....The best places in town to get out of ordinary fasteners are:
Marshalls supply up off Miramar road (I think its Production Ave)
and Paytons Hardware in Lakeside....
Whats nice is they have no minimum purchase...
Good luck with the fix...

This man knows what he's talking about. If you're not sure how to fix it take it to CJ and maybe he can help you.
