Launched the yak off the sand at SI around 0700. Was a quick paddle over to my first spot due to fog, thought I was gonna break another paddle on the way http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/images/smilies/hali_nuija.gif . Was a little windy with zero tidal movement for the next couple hours. I was able to scratch up a few spotties but that was about it.
At 0930 the tide started coming in and it was like a switch was flipped.
On the first drift I caught 4 more spotties, a checker, and a 21" flattie.
Next drift, another just short flattie. Next drift same, and same the next. Wound up with 5 just short flatties on 5 drifts. A few more spotties mixed in as well.
I gave up on the drift and let the wind/tide carry me straight back across the bay and right to the sand. On the way I caught a grumpy rattler right in front of the fishing pier on some structure.
Hit the sand right at noon. Fog was thick at times all morning. Several times I couldn't even see the oposite side of the bay.
All feesh caught using mostly GULP! swimming mullet & jerk baits. A few deeper fish caught using dark colored swim baits coated with Unibutter. Got a cool picture of one of the black sea nettles (jellyfish) that have been on the news.
The halibut were stacked up in a couple areas but the biggins just didn't want to play. At least I know where they are for now http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif.
Peace,
Spyder
