I finally bought myself a used kayak, but I still need a few things before my maiden voyage. Most specifically I need a PFD and was hoping to buy one locally today. I went by OEX Oceanside, but they only had a very basic one. I want to get one that is a bit more fishing specific with attachments for a knife, VHF, and some room for small tackle.

Is there anywhere else in North County San Diego that has a good selection of fishing PFDs?

OEX is giving away a nice one at the Moyer tournament. They must have these in some of their stores. I am sure the O-side store can get you anything you want. Give them a call.

Try http://kayakfishinggear.com/ospreykayakfishingpfd-sandormosscolor.aspx, they are located in in Capistrano Beach, CA. so when you order it, you should receive in few days.

I was really hoping to get out on the yak this weekend. Does West Marine carry much?

You could try Carlsbad Paddlesports 2002 PCH in Oceanside or maybe Bluewater Tackle Loma Santa Fe in Solana beach. Bluewater has some kayak/diving fishy stuff.

Try Wallmart. Look for one with zippered pockets.
