I picked one up before heading out on a two day trip in August. I didnt think I would get much surface action, but I wanted to try it out regardless after seeing some reviews.

It has a really really nice back and forth action to it. swims really well, and if we had a shot at some surface action it probably would have gotten hit. The capt and crew of the boat I was on all wanted a toss and they all loved it. Swims real well. havent taken it out on the yak yet, but next time I get out it will be on one of my rods.

There was some feedback on the surf fishing site that the wings break off fairly easily. Take good care of em.

I fished them in LJ with Jim and they are pretty deadly. the action on them is insane. The Barracuda couldn't resist them. Just like eveything Shimano makes, expensive but they catch fish.

Thanks for the feedback. I have been looking for the Bone Waxwing but can only find it online....

I have used the wax wing quite a bit and I gotta say my surface irons will be spending more time in the box now that I have these. They swim so good. I have caught fish all over with them, Blue fish, Pike, Musky, Yellowtail, Calicos...... I have slammed them into rocks fishing the boilers and they hold up just fine.
