ive been bugging my fiancee about getting a yak since last year. and finally on my date of birth she got me one. ive fished for many years but never fished from a yak. lots of flying fish in my stomach. haha

im totally stoked to get out on the water with the yak, ive been on plenty of boats, ferrys, sportboats, bass boats, skiffs, row boats, and pangas. never been on a yak. i plan to go to out and flip the thing a few times to test the stability of this thing.

ive gone thru the site and i have picked up many good pointers from everyones posts. thanks, and i hope to get to some yak fishing in asap.

What did u get?

Malibu pro explorer fish and dive version. People said it's a quite a good starter yak and I couldn't quite afford a hobie yet.

Hobies are for us old farts that have no upper body muscle mass. Guys with bad shoulders, no pecks, bad backs get Hobies. :D:D:D

Congrats. See you out there.

I had chronic back problems until I started paddling on a regular basis. Congrats on your new ride.

I also started on a Malibu, then got old with a bad back with no upper body muscle (but extra mass)....found a hobie outback love it...i played soccer in high school against Newport beach the parking lot was filled with BMW ,lexus, big trucks and other high end toys so a $2500 yak is nothing for some locals kids.

Im in HB so if your free lets go fishing...

you forget that you were in NEWPORT. lots of rich kids live out there and if they didn't buy it then mommy or daddy did. ever wonder how much those paddle boards cost? it blew my mind when i saw it

welcome to the yak club. i first bought a cobra marauder but the first time out with it i decided that i wanted a hobie after watching my buddy peddling while he fished and i was paddling and trying to fish. :D
