I got a new paddle, so I want to stick my old one inside just in case I need it, but... when I push in the pins I can't separate the shaft. its the standard black Hobie paddle like the one below. Any tips, tricks, and advice will be appreciated.

Whenever mine gets stuck I have my son grab one end while I grab the other as we both pull I push the locking pin/button and take the end of a hammer (wooden side) and lightly hit the paddle right where the two pieces connect........works all the time. Keep it off the sand and your issues may go away for good.

Sounds good but I'll need him back ASAP. I already have a 20yr old girl thats going on 30, don't know what i'd do if I inherited two more.

1 ice wrap, a can of WD40 a Hobie carrying strap, and 70 Lbs of little girl fury was all it took.

I iced the handle down for about two hours then soaked it with wd 40 let sit for about 30 mins. Tied the carrying strap off the had both of my girls pull while I tapped on the shaft with a rubber mallet came apart in a few mins.
Thanks to all for the advice.:cheers1:
