My kayak fishing pals recently travelled up to Scotland and caught their own Loch Ness monster...

wow! How did it taste?
I don't think you can keep them as I think they are protected but I imagine it would taste like $#!t as it's kind of a shorter fatter shovelnose.

Thats a great video. Grinding a skate that size up from 400 meters sounds like real work. We have a big skate here in California but as far as know people rarely target them. We call our big skate the big skate, we're creative over here right. They get to 200lbs and 2 meters or so across the disk. Mike

Glad you liked the video. Don't know how they taste - they are quite rare and they all get released. The guys also tag alot of them and record the information as part of a scientific study which hopes to increase stocks by understanding their behaviour and movements.
You guys get some serious fish over there - one day I will come over - one day !
