Today I went on my first kayak trip after school in the oceanside harbor. I was targeting fat spotted bay bassand maybe some halibut too using Swimbaits. I paddled around for a while not knowing what to really look for on my fish finder so I just went with my instincts. I pulled up to a boat repair dock with tons of pilings holding it up. I was able to dock my kayak on a piling and fish due to the strong current. On my first kayak trip I caught the biggest spotted bay bass I've ever caught using a 3 inch halloween big hammer and tons of unibutter. Im guessing that the fish weighed anywhere from 2 to 3 pounds. Could not of asked for a better first trip on the water. If anybody wants to fish oceanside comment or just message me cause I fish it at least 4 times a week. I will try to post pics as soon as possible
