We launched from mariners basin, Mission Point Park. About a 3 mile paddle to the PL Kelp. I don't sail but I could see it being a fun trip. Another fun trip for you may be the big bay launching from Kellogg St and sailing out by the Point Loma lighthouse.

Several times Shiloh and I have launched from Mission Point Park and paddled from there to Kellogg St (bat to bay) where we leave a car the night before. That is about a 15-20+ mile paddle if you time the tides right it is a great day of fishing.

We live in an area located on a vast stretch of ocean, two bays and several lagoons. There are many places up and down the coast to launch kayaks and fish. Always fun to explore.

Very nice report. You are living like a king!

How was the boat traffic going in/out the channel? Any problems to deal with?

I've launched from behind the Bahia, super easy to park/drag across grass, down the sand into the water. Your spot looks even easier.
