Come to The Darkside, Wade...

Can you hear the evil call? The temptation is just too great. You can fight it all you want, but I know where you'll end up.
.
.
.
The doctors note is just another fine excuse if you asked me.
.
.
.
.
Now, the real dilemma: Revo, Outback, or Pro Angler! :D

Wade,

Buy the hobie!!

I have the same predicament, that is why I now pedal.

bummer Wade,
I've been plauged with shoulder probs since highschool and had full shoulder reconstuction after a compound fractured collar bone/scapula? followed by arto surgey a couple years after....I obvoiusly had no choise but IMO if its not dislocating, there a good chance it will heal on its own....after a few weeks of immobilization. Just do what you can to stay off the operating table!! If you do go under the knife your looking at a solid 2months recovery anyway, and then your shoulder will still hurt randomly anyway (arthridus?).

Immobilize for a few weeks
Hot/cold therapy really helps
Alcohol Dehydrates and inflames tissues...no good...
Also, I think sleeping habits can play a big role in shoulder issues...learn to sleep on your back with your arms at your side, if you go under the knife your gonna be sleeping like that anyway so just get used to it.

OHHH yeah, sell the Flinstone modile!!! welcome to the 21st century!!!

It could be tendonosis - a very painful debilitating condition that come from repetitive use. Micro tears form along the tendon's length. They repeatedly tear and scar over when you re-injure it.
If you did not have any direct trauma to the affected area that would be my guess. (I got mine from Rowing) It got so bad I couldn't carry my groceries to my house.

- I went for the MRI and Ultrasound Scan to verify the condition. I had Four Radiologist Dr's read the scans. The only thing you can do it rest it - that means No use at all - and it sucks big time.
The Orthopedic Dr. told me if I rested it for 6 continuous months it would scar over and heal itself - and it did.
------------------------

You need to figure out a way to fish without aggravating the area. Use the Rail, Use your legs to peddle.

----------------------------------
I also has a rotator cuff tear from a different incident. Although it was painful, it was a different kind of pain only localized to a specific movement. It was easier to deal with as compared to the tendonosis and tear.

The Number 1 advice the doc will give you is to stop what you are doing and rest the area. I know you don't want to hear that (neither did I) but its a way to heal without surgery.

Next the Knees

Bummer.

It might heal over time?

Any ways--the peddle yaks may come with their own problems.
For me: Knee pain was number 1. Oh yes.
Number 2: back pain, if you cannot swap in a better seat.

It sucks getting old.

jorluivil 09-23-2011 03:01 PM

So, long story short. Which Hobie are you getting?

I don't have to worry about my knees anymore...
I destroyed them back in 2000 Skateboarding.
I did em so bad, I went to the Miami Dolphins Specialist John Uribe, and he wanted to do a full replacement with Bovine Grafts...So, i took up the sport known as Kayak Fishing...
