I got as close to a Bronze Whaler in New Zealand as I ever want.

Pretty certain this was a Dusky after looking at some of the underwater video.

They are not as thick in the Gulf as they are down there but there are some around offshore. Personally I always thought B-whalers had a longer snout, never caught one that I know of, but always heard they are hard to tell apart from a Dusky. You've got balls fishing behind shrimpers in a yak. I've fished them from skiffs and the sharks can be thick.
