I agree with the smaller reels. It nice to have some that can handle the big stuff, but you can also find some smaller reels that can easily handle the YT, WSB, and others. Personally I like the TLD15 - 30 type reels, they are smaller, but when put to the test will serve you well.

It's not the shiniest, prettiest, flashiest gear that makes a good fisherman. It's the love and passion for the sport, the willingness to learn from all these guys on this site, and GOING FISHING that helps you catch fish!

You will be fine with what you have and your wife and kids are the lucky ones!
