GT Drive Lube...
Per Matt Miller of Hobie Cat:
"Just some WD40 from time to time is all that is needed. Same as standard MirageDrive maintenance." And so, let the debate begin... |
The Wd40 is regular maintenance just a corrosion inhibitor, you can use Salt X or silicone spray, the grease is only applied on the rebuild.
BTW, I got in more of these components Drums, sprockets and idler pulleys. |

No bearing is impervious to sand. Sorry Andy, I'm skeptical about the bearings, sealed or not. We use Oil Impregnated Bronze Bushings where I work on our pumps and equipment. I would think these would be better in that environment. |
If one is worried about sand getting in the drive, there is enough room (gap) between the frame and the sprocket to put in a neoprene washer. This should fill in the gap very nice and keep the sand from entering.
When I located the correct size, I'll post the part number and link. |
Having been out on the water plenty I am noticing more resistance when peddling the new drives. It's not as smooth and easy as it once was. I wash the drives down after every outing and now I'm concerned as I see fluid seeping out.
Going to bring it down to the shop to inspect but hoping it's not a big deal. |
