That fish deserves an on the water shot. Wish I could have been there to take it. Sure there will be others to come.

Is that for gringos or everyone? I think the same rule applies for class and mussels also, but only for on residents.

I have never run into any rockfish here Tony. Talked to a local Panga captain and he said the only good fishing here in the middle of winter is grouper. If there were rockfish I would think he would mention that too. I'll try to find out more about that.

Just as an aside, I know my son has fished the Hipolito bank which is 10 miles or so offshore, on a long range trip. Maybe he can chime in if they ran into any RF out there. Probably concentrating on tuna at the time.

I know that the local cooperatives are the ones who enforce the regs, and they call the cops on offenders. They're the ones with "la vigilencia" on the side of their trucks and usually a big VHF radio antenna. I'm sure if you're a local they wont enforce the regs, but as far as I know it applies to all recreational fisherman. It never hurts to go talk to the pangeros and ask them whats up with a particular species.

Very nice :yt: My guess is that you'll be catching more personal bests at San Roque over the coming year!

Ran into sheephead and whitefish so they have to be somewhere.

Yo rossman whats the local forage bait? Still see flyers or any other baity fish?

FISH11 03-17-2015 05:29 PM

That is awesome, what a monster. You're going to be eating so much Yellowtail that you might get to not liking it anymore, right. NAAAAAHHHHHH!

JeffB 03-17-2015 05:29 PM

I haven't seen any flyers while I have been on the water. I have seen schools of something out front of me being chased around by bonito I think. I caught one greenie On a megabait that I dragged around for an hour or so but no takers. I meter some schools but have not dropped a sabiki down to see what they are. Could be crab. They can make themselves look like a lot of different things on the meter.
