The whole carrying rock under water is what deep divers do to train underwater. Don't see the point unless he was going to go spear..

But none the less I'm going to try that in LJ and see if that helps me launch better..

I thought it was pretty cool. I didn't like some of the cut in scenes during the fights showing the wrong rods and reels, I was checking out their boats and their rigging but it was hard to even see their live bait tanks. That dude on a tandem with outriggers.. I don't know but that seems like cheating. Some footage of dynamite fishing would be cool.

I think the one guy is one of the fellow BWE guys. I recognized a clip that he posted here prior to with the shark. They used it on the opener to the show. Also the Marlin scene. Not for sure if its him or not, but it looks like him Kau Grown. Rob

Anyone pick up the setup when using dead bait that makes it appear to swim like a live bait ?

FISH11 10-24-2015 08:24 PM

Thanks for posting the link to the original post JeffB. The original video of catching the marlin is actually better than most of the Pacific Warriors show. I guess it's because it's more of the catching and less manufactured Hollywood BS you see on all the so called reality shows. I hope the future shows have more fishing shots and less BS. Do you really thinks that the camera boat could have lost sight of the younger kayaker. It amazes me how stupid people can be to believe all the BS on the "Not Real" reality shows.

I think it was just a swivel to a 20' leader. It was the tuna he had to hand line up the last 20' because the swivel won't fit through the guides.

I thought the show was a great watch. Entertaining and if you look at it from a beginner stand point, it does offer what dreams you can achieve in the sport of fishing on plastic. The show also highlight safety so it should enlighten some people.

Hey its another kayak show! :luxhello: There's too many boating show and not enough kayak show. And its another spot light that shines on the kayak fishing community to showcase you could still tackle that 100+ lbs pelagic on a piece of plastic. :the_finger:

Can't wait to see the rest of the season and see how it plays out.

Thought it was great! Showed the world(who knows nothing about our addiction) a glimpse of what kayak fisherman do. I've seen dudes turn tail at the LJ launch because they were scared of knee slappers, the conditions they were fishing in were extreme compared to what we are normally faced with. It was entertaining so say the least. Those of you who lost interest quickly probably did so as the babe in the two piece came on.... To each his own! I was sweating more watching this than I do watching cops...

The show was alright, I enjoyed it. They have to add the drama because most of the audience has zero experience with kayak fishing. Now my Co workers will think I'm a bad ass when I tell them I'm going Kayak fishing!

taggermike 10-25-2015 08:28 AM

Just the trailer was enough for me. Way too dramatic and way too much attitude. Absolutely beautifully filmed above and below water for sure. I think making kayak fishing in to an "extreme sport" is ridiculous. Mike

I missed the show, but is is on again at 11 AM this morning and I will watch it.

So we are bad ass now?

Aznronin 10-25-2015 09:01 AM

I learned never to go fishing with dynamite. Lol

ctfphoto 10-25-2015 11:11 AM

I liked the show. Good but not great photography, IMO.

Of course they have to sensationalize aspects of the show, but overall pretty cool.

They showed huge Hawaii waves but NO kayak entry or exiting those waves, ;)

The guy freaks out (for the camera) oh my gawd bro I got a really big shark on ..... really. Same thing happens daily in La Jolla :D

Rescues at sea, at least two this week in La Jolla.

I haven’t seen the show yet, but there are countless ways to rig up strips, pieces, skinned, whole, filleted, etc to resemble the real thing. A common method is to use an egg sinker and bridle it in the chin section of your favored local fresh dead forage. Butterflied baits is a another great way to stay active with the dead stuff. In this months issue that just came in my mailbox a couple days ago of Florida Sport Fishing Journal / November-December 2015, there was a similar section on stitching and rigging a variety of dead baits for attracting offshore Pelagic application(s). Possibilities are endless..:reel:

Personally, I enjoyed the show. As I don't get Jim Sammon's show on Direct TV, I liked the fact that it showed salt water kayak fishing. It will certainly give the sport a lot more noteriety, (not sure that that's a good thing though). I'm hoping that the up coming episodes will show more actual fish catching, techniques, etc.... But I'll definitely watch it again and see if it grows on me like Wicked Tuna did, (wasn't sure that I liked it at first, but then got hooked).
