Thanks
Thanks for sharing. It is a destination that is part of my 1,000 places to visit before I die. Your story has moved it up a few spots on the list.

Nice job on pulling off a great family vacation. Any signs of Bonefish? Did you eat those fish heads, or were you just teasing? Yani </TD></TR><TR UNSELECTABLE="on" hb_tag="1"><TD style="FONT-SIZE: 1pt" height=1 UNSELECTABLE="on"> </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> |
Thanks all.
Sure we ate the heads. I was thinking of you while I sucked on their eyeballs and all... :D There's nothing better. Bonefish are thick on the inside, close to the shore. There are quite a few places that specialize in targeting them – mostly fly fishing though. They’re hanging out in mangroves and river mouths. Tarpon and snook are there in greater numbers too. They also have a lot of giant barracuda. I’ve seen them while snorkeling, but I never connected with any while trolling small rapalas and casting crocks. I may have had one that busted me off on the coral reef. It is worth mention that offshore fishing in Belize is great with tuna, dodos, marlin and other blue water life. I just didn’t feel like dedicating the whole day for off-shore boat trip. I guess I’m an inshore kind of a guy... :) |
Nice report and great pics. Love your story telling...makes me feel like i'm there! :you_rock: Then I wake up and have to get back to work!

Nice Adi. My wife and I spent a week on a private island for our honeymoon. We didn't go fishing but did some snorkeling and diving. The outer island we were on had virgin reef and the life was abundant with large fish and huge lobster.
Conch ceviche is the best. Oh, my wife is hooked on bonefishing. She got spooled twice on her little trout rod, but that's her favorite fish to catch now. One of our favorite past times was to catch a bunch of little pan fish, put them on a hook and toss them out into deeper water. The cuda's would just slice them in half. we'd see this while in the water as well and it's just an amazing thing to see. Thanks for triggering those memories. |
