That new outback looks pretty cool. Looks like they put a rectangular hatch, but oriented it longways. That’s a pretty cool change, as I find it hard to do anything with the wide hatch open.

So what's the difference between the Outback and ProAngler again?

The Outfitter has been discontinued and this is a really smart replacement!

The Compass has added papaya to the color options and Camo. Hobie has also extended their 2 year warranty to 3 years on their Mirage kayaks. This says a lot about standing behind their product line

New Hull Design provides improved stability, better tracking and glide path with the added keel, and a much quieter ride. Additionally, it is notched on the underside near the drive to recess the fins further, providing even more protection, particularly in shallow water. Reflective bow graphics are included with the boat, but uninstalled: owner’s choice! Specs: 12’9” Long, 34” Wide, fitted weight of 87 pounds with a carrying capacity of 425 pounds.
Patent-pending Hobie Guardian.
CTW Vantage Seat, exclusive to the Outback, adds 1 ½” width to the seat bottom for extra comfort, and to accommodate larger individuals.
Dual Steering, similar to the Pro Angler system, for the ability to steer with either hand.
Turbo Fins now standard equipment.
Improved Storage: Rectangular Hatch with Storage Bin, oriented vertically for easier access, sporting a rubber mesh pocket and bottle opener; larger Bow Hatch with optional liner; 2 Molded-in Trays; 4 Molded-in Rod Holders.

It's just a barely smaller PA at this point. PA Lite

I like the idea of recessed h rails but they should have been placed on the outside edge.

You have limited options as to what you can mount there due to them being on the inside edge.

Anyway I'm happy only the outback got an update. My PA is good for me still.

I love my PA but with just having shoulder surgery I have been thinking about the outback.

waiting for next year model. hear it will have a stateroom and flush toilets.

Any updates on the compass?

The Compass has the same price tag as 2018, they have added a sail mast receptacle and have made a deeper side handles as well as adding papaya for this price of $1949 as well. The Compass will also be offered in Camo with the non-ARC MD180 Drive with Turbo Fins for $2299.
