Thursday Gill showed me his bait tube and it looked totally awesome. The bait looked perfect! No nose bleeds. Light weight, and little drag. Much better than the time and effort to set up my heavy 5 gallon bucket. His bait tube has a latch on the side to remove the bait, and instead of having rope on both ends, he has it only on one.

My mission lately has been to go as light as possible.

Then last week, I lost my primer in the ocean. Oh man, that was the last straw. No more 5 gallon bucket.

The guys at NCKA made some improvements that should be noted.

I think Andy single handedly destroyed the market for bait tanks with this one. I was amazed how many people started using this very shortly after he posted it. I haven't gotten around to making one yet, but if there is ever a rainy weekend its high on my list.

Anyone tried keeping SQUID in it yet? :wink:

I really like the bait tube and have used it to put off getting a bait tank. However running out of bait sucks.
The other problem I have with it is when I paddle full speed for an extended time to get out to the action the bait inside gets water flushed through too quick and they die. This Saturday one of my baits in the tube didn't make it. Any one else have this happen? With bait tanks do the intakes still work when you paddle at speed?

With allthese squid around has anybody jigged any up and put in their tube? Wondering how it would work.
