Man that's awesome- can't wait for this trip! Staying in character with my handle (CON KSO), I'm going to sponsor cheeseburgers for my dinner night. Anybody else got their dinner night contribution figured out?

I'll try for shrimp and scollops, Seafood Tacos. On another note RomSpaceNut is looking for a ride for this trip, but he can only go for a week. So if two weeks was too long for you and you wanted to do shorter trip you might look him up. Tight Lines amigos.

I doubt I will have time for that nor oven space for it but I can probably do some desserts and can bring my air fryer for that.

Going to call the mexican consulate tomorrow and have them explain...

Exactly what paperwork I need to go through the border both ways passport visa FMM pass unsure please explain on what I need to do to stay legal and how long is a passport good for....right now this is just a one time trip....

rossman 08-17-2017 12:36 AM

You will need a passport to get the FMM. You can get the FMM at either at the the border Immigration office or can be purchased online. Either way you have to stop at Immigration to purchase or have it stamped. Generally a quick process.. A US passport is good for 10 years from date of issue. If you don't have a passport you better start that process now because unless you expedite it, at a higher cost, it can take a couple months. The FMM is good for up to 180 days. Mexican car insurance is also required. You will only be asked for proof of that if you are in an accident. Getting back into the states only requires a passport and patience.

Mahigeer 08-18-2017 09:36 AM

If you have to wait for your passport, I would highly recommend applying for SENTRI card as well.

After the first trip to Baja with the gang, you will more likely go back.

Hmmmmm. Can you apply for SENTRI without a passport?

Mahigeer 08-18-2017 12:13 PM

You know I did not think about that when I posted above.

I checked my original application, and it asked for the passport number.

Looks like you need the passport first.

buddha 08-18-2017 12:40 PM

Global entry may be faster to obtain and there are more places that are available to interview. Many say you can get it faster and easier than sentries with the same benefits.

Do you know what kind of rock he makes these carvings out of? What kind of tools? How long does it take to carve them? Nice work.

He uses a hammer and chisel and some kind of electric grinder. The rock is a come out of a local quarry and is used for patios and walkways. I think it is called "roka laya". He works fairly quickly. Something like this would take a couple days to complete. Maybe three because there is some staining involved

Very interesting. What are the approximate dimensions of this piece? What does he charge for something like this?

Although I have not heard it from Makobob as yet, it looks like he will not be making the trip this year. I just wanted to assure everyone that was planning to come down that I am still planning on seeing as many as possible make it down and I'll be fishing daily and hope you all can join me.

Yesterday's catch from the tin boat.

But I'm glad I didn't, bone on bone, with time the pain eventually went away, now it's just numb, and I need two different sizes shoes and it causes me to walk bull legged. Affecting my hip. Falling off a roof breaking my tibia probably didn't help either.

farreola 11-01-2017 02:35 PM

Bob, I hope you are doing well. You have to stop by at the restaurant on your way back from Mako Villa.

Getting close to the kick-off day for Thanksgiving at Rossman's casita.

I'm curious about how many are still a solid "go" for this trip.

I am leaving early Saturday morning and will cross at Tecate, head through San Felipe and plan on stopping at either Gonzaga or camp at the hotsprings campground at Puertocitos.

So maybe this is a bit of a roll call... who's still in?

Druko 11-13-2017 11:33 AM

I'm in!
