It is a good thing that an expert like Dave is all over this topic. I would hate for anybody to mislead the kayak fishing public about the properties or construction of a titanium gaff. The last thing we need to have in our community is somebody misrepresenting a substandard or non-conforming gaff as a true titanium gaff. That would be terribly unethical. I don't think you could get indicted for something like that, but it is wrong. Thanks again Dave for keeping this forum honest.

No problem Doug, I see you are an expert yourself on most everything related, even on things that you have no idea of whats going on!!!!!! LOL...

No worries Dave. Just couldn't pass on the wonderful irony of the whole situation.

Let put an end to this thread.....I know from experience that fisherwoman like me, prefer ours long, but not too long, stiffness is important and diameter must be of such to maintain a firm and solid grip..But hey...that’s just me.. :D<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I'd pay $50 bucks for a floating gaff made of titanium (of course it must be high quality titanium that can pass all required QC checks). I wouldn't want a gaff made of substandard or nonconforming material that might fail and put somebody in jeopardy.

Hey Law Hand, send me a PM with a materials spec sheet, QC reports and a price list. I'll just run it by the Engineering, QC, Procurement, Contracts and the Legal departments. If everything looks Kosher, we got a deal.

Hell, I never catch any fish. You might as well make it out of rolled up beer cans and a paperclip.:linesnap:

Here is a brief synopsis:

Flip4i asked a valid question about the best length for a gaff

A number of people posted serious replies with their personal preferences for gaff length.

SESSAGAFF brought up the subject of floating gaffs

The thread wandered off topic slightly with a discussion of the pros and cons of gill grabbing.

Efish told his tale of woe and warned of the dangers of a sharp gaff within arm's reach

Law Hand posted pics of a floating titanium gaff that he manufactured

Dorado50, being a major tool, called out Law Hand on the veracity of his post

Law Hand took offense

The topic then wandered back to the original subject. Nice pics of a badass gaff made by Rick Osani

Dgax65, being a part-time A-hole and a full time curmudgeon, posted a sarcastic response to D50

D50 panties in a wad

The thread wandered back off track with healthy doses of sexual innuendo

Law Hand wants to sell one of his homemade, fancy, floating titanium gaffs.

Dgax expresses an interest in said gaff, but does so in a sarcastic manner (that A-hole tendency gets the better of me sometimes)

There you go Greggo. You are fully up to speed on what we're talk'n about. Just havin' a little fun. This will probably drag on for another page or two before somebody has the good sense to lock it.

Grego 07-09-2009 10:00 PM

Crazy thread....but I'd seriously look at buying a titanium gaff if someone is making them.

FISHIONADO 07-10-2009 07:59 AM

Chuck Norris doesn't use a gaff, or a glove, or even his hand, to land fish. Sack up!

Law Hand 07-10-2009 04:03 PM

I am CHUCK NORRIS!

From his lack of knowledge I could see how this could be dangerous.

Ouch. Good one "Chuck"
That will put him in his place........except I think Dave knows something about titanium.

This should be entertaining.

Billy V 07-12-2009 07:42 PM

For the Love of God.....:turtle:

Post a picture of this Gaff already. We will deal with the metallurgy after the design is tentatively approved. :)
