Lowrance update
I just wanted to pass along an update that came out yesterday.
Anyone with a mark 4 hdi, elite 4 hdi, elite 5 hdi, elite 5 CHIRP, elite 7 hdi, or elite 7 CHIRP, you should check out the update. Better mapping options, sonar log enhancements, and general software and performance improvements. This is the link to the update http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Softwa...ates/Elite-40/ |
Nice heads up Brandon, thank you for posting this info.
|
No problem Bob. The crew left for abreojos a couple of days ago without me. Took on a new position at work and couldn't abandon my job for 10 days. Withdrawals from baja are setting in for sure. If I can make the October trip. Mike and I will probably drive down in my truck. I'll keep you updated if I can make it.

Damn work always getting in the way of the fishing time
|
So Brandon out of the Lowrence you listed which one for the Kayak??
|
They're all kayak capable? Not sure I understand your question. I personally have an elite 5 hdi.
|
does it include any MLPA areas yet?
|
Bus kid,
Not sure yet. I can let you know tomorrow afternoon when I have a chance to do the update. |

I was hoping they would have integrated it. Which maps are you using? A version of navionics?

over at Bd in the socal section under the MLPA there is a post titled something like mlpas for your chartplotter by Dean Bankrobber. He took the time to create all the mlpas as tracks/waypoints and shared them. I was able to import them into my FF and it works great. It amazes me that he can do it but a multi-million dollar company like Navico cant for something that they charge for. |
Thanks for that info. I will probably plug in those MLPAs tomorrow after the update. I feel you on navionics not adding to there maps yet as well.
|
Thanks for the heads up worked out great for me easy as 123
|
It appears to be on their web app http://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=en#products/Gold so it should be on their cards..
Maybe you need Nav+ to get it |
Brandon, thanks for the post. I utilize the elite-4 hdi on my yak and was able to download latest version onto a micro SD card, but that is as far as I got. Can you help by explaining the uploading process once the card is inserted into the slot in the FF. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

when done take the card out and delete the update and reinsert it then turn on you should be good to go. |
Apex, was hoping you may also have some insight. Am I on the right track by first downloading latest update onto an micro SD card? If so, where do I go from there? Thanks in advance!

Interesting. I just checked mine and all of the marine conservation areas are definitely on it. It's pretty much the same as the web app. I have the Raymarine Nav Gold chip in the Dragonfly if that makes a difference?
A while ago someone said the pipe at Dana Point wasn't on the gold cards even though it is shown on the web app, but I found the pipe is on my chart. Maybe you can update your maps? I would think that software updates are for the OS only, and map updates are a separate download. |
Thank you sir; worked as advertised. Appreciate your shared knowledge.
