Hobie Seat Upgrade?

I have a Revo and want a better seat. After some internet research it appears I don't have much options when it comes to upgrading the seat. Am I missing something? Anyone out there upgrade their seat? Thanks for the info.

Baja_Traveler 01-10-2013 09:41 AM

I read over on the Hobie Forums that this seat is the one to get for a revo:

That link has a bunch of them. Do you know if they are all compatible with the Hobies??? Or which one(s)....can't believe Hobie doesn't have a top shelf model

I have one from the above mentioned vendor. Storage is nice plus the rod holders. You may need to install padeyes behind seat.

I'm sure most afermarket seats will fit on the Revo. They won't go into the plugs on the bottom of the seat, but you can attach them with front and rear straps like a traditional kayak seat. You may need to add 2 Pad Eyes behind the seat to attach the rear buckles, but with the adjustable rear straps you can probably just add it on & avoid doing any sort of modification.

Here is a Surf To Summit seat on my Hobie Adventure. No modifications needed to eitehr the seat or the kayak. It would probably be the same on the Revo.

Surf to Summit makes a very high quality seat, and that is where I'd start my search. Go see OEX and try a few seats on their Revo's I'd bet you will find a few that will work :cheers1:

pre 2013 could use these pegs on most after market seats to keep the seat in place. Just make the holes with a soldering iron or heat up a screw driver :D

I have a revo, and this seat works fine.

I had a outback that I put a Surf To Summit seat on and it worked out great. I am not sure if a revo has a narrower seating area then a outback thow.

nobody mentioned

the upgrade for stock hobie seat. you can add a liner / air cushion , to stock seat which will improve seat dramatically . this will make it as good as any after market seat . iceman can give part # and price. i would highly recommend it . and of course ice will take care of you. ;)

Skwoosh makes some, I thought they were too pricey to carry them.

Hobie only makes the air/foam pad. I have used it and found it adds alot of comfort.

$50 plus shipping

Air seat

I use this :

http://www.amazon.com/Thermarest-Lit...hermarest+seat

Loop with some bungee cord to the stock seat, or epoxy a strap under this air seat to the stock seat, cheap and comfortable.

bus kid 01-10-2013 03:07 PM

Try this one.:D

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001V9...sr=8-5&pi=SL75

TJones 01-10-2013 04:24 PM

the 50 $ upgrade

well worth it. although the one suggested by bus is nice . you can crap your shorts on open water , and not have to worry about dumping the chutes or getting a rash.

TJones 01-10-2013 04:25 PM

ohh the therma rest

is the same principle as the hobie upgrade . except no muss no fuss.

So between these two seats what do people think? The factory Outback seat is ok but it seems a little low on my back and I always seem to be squirming for a comfortable position. I had a surf to summit on my Fish N Dive and it was very comfortable.

Is that the one that was a group buy recently? I'm kicking myself for not jumping on that deal.

When looking for a seat look for a seat....ignore all the bells and whistle. Look at the butt padding on that thing...You will need to add more padding. The highback is about the only thing that looks good.

Hands down, GTS-Expedition. I bought it through CJ at OEX, the gel padding, almost 2" thick was the most comfortable seat. The only draw back is, it does slide a bit, so I am thinking of inserting the pegs to hold the seat in place. But it's really not that big of a deal. Great deal and really comfortable.

For me the butt padding is not an issue on long outings. It's the backrest and the ability to readjust comfortable that would be nice. :)
