Impressive

I think my problem has always been that I am apprehensive of using bait that is too big. I grew up in Colorado where the take home fish were brook trout that were smaller than the greenbacks we use for bait. Obviously you have it mastered. Well done and happy eating!

SmokinBass 07-12-2016 06:18 AM

I'm always willing to try something new. Thanks for the info. Awesome catch!!

For the record

The WSB was caught on the lizard, the butt was caught using a greenback.

NaH20DIVER 07-12-2016 03:39 PM

I seem to only find the little lizard fish as by-catch. I've had greenbacks on the bottom plenty of time to not catch a lizard fish of that size. Any tips on finding a bigger one, are you deeper than right on the NW corner in LJ?

Whoa...whoa...whoa...no need to mention La Jolla unless these were La Jolla fish. Too dang crowded there already without feeding the sheep with wrong info.
Just private message the Pepsi guy and he may offer specifics on his latest catch. But then again...:the_finger::pepsi:

Dude, when are you going to come mow my lawn, shit is overgrown already

King Saba 07-12-2016 05:06 PM

What if I can't find a huge lizard to fish with? What will I do then?!

That must of been a huge lizard if it ate your greenie.

The lizard fish was probably 10-12 inches, the mac that it bit was probably 8-10 inches, these larger grade lizard fish aren't easy to catch but they are around. I've found schools of the smaller grade lizard fish that are so big that you can actually see them on your sonar, on my screen the school looks similar to what a small sardine or anchovy school would look like; slightly scattered and usually hanging out between the bottom and mid column. The Lizard fish that I caught the WSB with is probably the 3rd or 4th larger size lizard that I've caught this year, most have been on the smaller end (4-6 inches).....I dumped those

Greedy little thing. All I ever see on my FF are clouds of bait and purple clutter.

My first day out at La Jolla I caught a stringer of lizard fish hooked one on a flyline and within 20 minutes got a wsb 28". I was just using the lizard fish until I got greenbacks never wouldve thought wsb like them

dmrides 07-13-2016 05:46 PM

Nice one!

Personally, I hate lizard fish and am always happy to release them with a hook or two attached. Glad to see it worked out in your favor!!

:cheers1:

TJones 07-14-2016 07:46 PM

Don't expect that to happen anytime soon.
