Kayak Gaff for Sale

9 Attachment(s)
I just picked up some very nice looking Calcutta bamboo and will be making some 3ft custom Calcutta floating bamboo gaffs. All are coated with rod finish epoxy. Gaffs come with a gapped cork tape underneath X wrapped heat shrink grip and with the gaff hook that is wrapped with one continuous wrap around gaff hook shank and up the neck of hook. This provides an extra strong gaff hook that looks good too.
3ft..........$45
I can also make any length gaff that will fit your fishing needs.

Pm me if interested.

Thank you,
Daryl

I am located in Fountain Valley. Oneyedeer, you will see your gaff up close today when you pick up. Thanks for the order.

Here are some other photos, hopefully you can see them better.

GregAndrew 04-09-2013 04:27 PM

What is the diameter of the butts?

Tin Slayer 28 04-09-2013 06:22 PM

The butt size differs depending on the bamboo, but a majority of the butts are between the diameter of a nickel to quarter size. It really depends on the piece of bamboo that is selected.

What size diameter are you looking for?

FlyFishinYakr 04-10-2013 12:41 PM

Do you make one with a 2" hook for "Log skooters"? :D
FFY.

Tin Slayer 28 04-10-2013 02:01 PM

Yes I do. I have and can make you a gaff with any size hook you are looking for. I personally like the 2/0 hook size, which has a 2 1/4 inch gap. Works well gaffing all game fish from cbass, yellowtail, hailbut, etc. What length of gaff are looking for?

spottie slayer 04-10-2013 02:45 PM

ill buy it. call or text 9493097407:wsb:

Tin Slayer 28 04-10-2013 08:06 PM

Thanks for the compliments. Yes, they do float, as bamboo has sections that are airtight. Call or text me when you're ready or if you have some questions.

Raskal311 04-11-2013 06:00 AM

Nice, if I didnt already have one I'd pick one up today; I'm a mile from FV.

Tin Slayer 28 04-11-2013 11:05 AM

Raskal,
Next time you need a gaff, at least you do not have to travel far. What city do you live in?

Raskal311 04-11-2013 01:04 PM

I'm 1 mile north of mile square park.

Tin Slayer 28 04-11-2013 05:35 PM

I'm a mile south of Mile Square. :cheers1:

FishNinjaY 04-11-2013 05:47 PM

hmm... I might still get one. (altho.. I have yet to catch a gaff-worthy fish  )

They look awesome! Any other wrap colors/styles?

Maybe I'll try to stop by sometime and check one out. I'm in the Long Beach area.. not far from Raskal.

Anyone interested in buying a brand new floating Promar gaff? :toetap05:

oneyedeer 04-11-2013 07:18 PM

Placed my order and got what I pretty much envisioned and some...3 feet, double 8inch grip and a wrist loop. Diameter the size of the butt of my swimbait rod.I like the way how he wrapped the hook.:you_rock:

Tin Slayer 28 04-11-2013 10:34 PM

Fishnijay, currently I have two different blues and a green for wrap colors, but I can always get different colors. Let me know what you're looking for.

Oneyedeer,
Thanks for the purchase and I'm glad you like it. Hopefully you will get to stick few of these :wsb: and some of these :yt: with your new gaff.

FlyFishinYakr 04-12-2013 04:29 PM

Thanks waiting for a travel mileage/per diem check for a couple hundred $. Will catch up to you when it arrives.
Great looking quality ('sick' looking gaffs). :notworthy:
Wishing you much success in this endeavor, :D
Robert.

Are the hooks S/S? And will you ship to San Diego area?

Tin Slayer 28 05-24-2013 07:32 PM

I "need" another

Gaffs look really good. I got a new one a month or so ago, and now am kicking myself. Maybe I can conjure up a reason to buy another. Hummmm. Maybe a smaller gaff to carry on those quick trips that I can't get the yak out. Dragging a three footer around when you only have 2 hours can be a hassle. Any chance you can make something half the size with same quality. Possibly with wrist type loop? A man can dream can't he!

Tin Slayer 28 06-10-2013 05:36 AM

Scotty,
Gaff looks good on your yak, thanks for the business.

Cadillyak,
Thanks for the comment. Yes I can make a gaff to any size you want with a wrist loop. Let me know.

Ojos_raros 06-10-2013 07:20 AM

off topic here but... how do you prevent rust on the hook?

I sand off rust and use dielectric grease but it always gets rusty again.

makobob 06-10-2013 12:20 PM

Tin Slayer says the hooks are S/S. My gaff just arrived from UPS this morning. Nice, light, floats, and looks great, well made!

Thanks

Have you tried rinsing in fresh water throughly wiping dry let air dry for 24 hrs then wipe down with corrosion X or Break free on a rag? That's the only thing I can think of. I hope it helps!
Then you may have to face the fact that the hook on the gaff is made from cheap SS and may have to deal with it until you replace the gaff...
FFY

Tin Slayer 28 06-12-2013 05:56 AM

The gaff hook I use is a Mustad stainless steel hook, it's the same hook all sport boats use too. Rinsing your gaff off with freshwater and drying should keep it looking nice.

Robert, thanks for the business and the compliments. Much appreciated!:cheers1:

FishRaiden 06-12-2013 03:19 PM

Stoked! Cant wait till mines is ready. Ill def spread the word out if you plan to build more.
