Looks sweet!

MWC359 04-15-2012 06:06 AM

A dealer by my house told me it was 20lbs lighter and no price increase same as big pro angler

lowprofile 04-15-2012 06:07 AM

Happy April 15th.

Iceman 04-15-2012 06:49 AM

Less raw material but more features even the price out to be the same as the original Pro Angler.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...9/IMG_0261.jpg

this shows the transducer cover. There is a recess so your trans is in the water with this cover protecting it.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...9/IMG_0264.jpg

No holes to drill with running your FF wiring. One acess here and one under each side board.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...9/IMG_0265.jpg

Far and away the seat is the biggest new feature. Lighter more comfortable and tons of adjustment from reclining to raising to flipping back and leaning against when standing

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...9/IMG_0275.jpg

tackle management and the new rectangular hatch. When opened the 2 trays actually raise up and out for easier removal.

We were introduced to the PA at the International Dealers meeting last month. Orders were place by all the dealers. Initial shipments are 2 per dealership with followup orders placed. When can you get one? June 1st.........maybe sooner.

when will you have a demo available?

Dealer confidence in this model is so high that production is already sold out into July.

I have 8 on order and if they do not all get snatched up with pre orders, I will gladly make one available to demo.

bellcon 04-15-2012 07:31 AM

Andy
I see 2 pulleys? one on each side of the kayak
the cord for raising the rudder?
is there one for up and one for down on the PA now?

or what is the new one for?

seat looks great
like the center hatch
transducer ready is nice
and the molded in rear rod holders look like they are better positioned? angling out from the boat?

hope you sell thousands of them!

That's a lot of Kayak to peddle around. I think I'll stick with my OK Prowler.

lbsurf2ca 04-15-2012 08:00 AM

Bummer....

lowprofile 04-15-2012 08:12 AM

Gigafish 04-15-2012 08:12 AM

Iceman 04-15-2012 08:21 AM

Don,

I see one photo with an up and a down pull cord (prototype), but not what we saw, should be the same as on the PA 14. no second up/down control on this one.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...9/IMG_0275.jpg

driftwood 04-15-2012 08:35 AM

I noticed the seat is much higher than the larger PA.
The advantage is more torque power. This is going to be a fun ride!!!!

forefrazier 04-15-2012 09:03 AM

Andy....what model yak (dune color) is that in the background of the last photo?

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...9/IMG_0269.jpg

Drew 04-15-2012 10:02 AM

That white kayak in the background is a class fiberglass version of the Hobie Mirage - the first Miragedrive kayaks produced. It's one of about 70 that were made.

deepdvr 04-15-2012 10:21 AM

Pretty sick boat! Only issue I see is getting in and out of that new chair in the surf. Looks like the seat will have to be in the extra vantage position to get the armrests as much out of the way as possible.

Can't wait until they roll all of those improvements into the PA 14.

Yakin 04-15-2012 10:31 AM

only two ups about it is the lowrance hook ups already there and the seat I think.
Glad I have the 2011 PA

Damn, I was riding by on my bike and saw all those. I wish I would have stopped to take a closer look. There sure are a lot of features in that boat.

Steering controls on both sides of the boat. The "primary steering" (ie, the big lever) comes from the factory on the left but can be switched. Could also get a second big lever and have primary steering on either side.

That seat is a riot. Seriously, only hobie would say, "yes, let's make the seat bottom, seat back and seat height fully adjustable! And while we're at it, everybody could use a little adjustable lumbar gadget as well." Good stuff.

bellcon 04-15-2012 11:23 AM

Andy it looks like the rudder up cable is now on both sides to be ambidextrous?
so it is not up / down, but the same as before, just able to use either side of the kayak for control.

Looks like the steering handle can be switched to either side of the boat also?

Yakin 04-15-2012 11:38 AM

it also might be 12 lb lighter but it also has 100lb less capacity

i think the tee handle your seeing is the seat release? watch this video and it will show you what the pull cord on the left does. yep switch the steering left or right or buy another steering thingy and have both

Bummer because the value of my outback decreased....:( this new boat is bad ass. I want it and I want it now!

MWC359 04-15-2012 01:28 PM

Wife saw it wife wants it Ill buy it for her I look like the good guy for supporting the idea of doing things together wife will burn out or get tired of bugs near the water I get a second kayak :luxhello:

RockyRaab 04-15-2012 03:29 PM

What is this "surf" thing of which you speak? Nothing like that here in Utah...LOL!

I bought my PA14 exactly 17 days ago. If I had had the option, I think I would have still gone with the 14. For one thing, the shorter length would make it harder to load atop my Durango. By the time I had the bow up on the rack, the shorter 'yak would be almost vertical. Plus, I'd lose two rod holders, and the four in the 12 would be shorter, to boot. The new seat may or may not be better; those arm rests might be more in the way than I'd like. The handles seem too far back to mount anything on, or even use as fish measurers. Then there's the fact that I'm not a Lowrance guy.

One thing I DO like is the new paddle holder system on the left handle. I'd LOVE that on my 14.

JeffB 04-15-2012 04:33 PM

I don't understand why they go with Lowrance when you have to pay extra for everything and there mapping for San Diego is crap.

ODOGFISH 04-15-2012 04:44 PM

coming in at TWO feet shorter than the fourteen ... is it still the same price ?

and yes why limit the FF to a lowrance why not make it so other units could be used

Baja_Traveler 04-15-2012 05:54 PM

Yea, IF I got the shorter one, First thing I'd be trying to figure out is how to modify the Lowrance transducer mount and change it to fit the Garmin 440 unit I want. I've never liked Lowrance, and that will not change any time soon.

What I do like though is the fact that the seat is easily removable in the water for more standing room. That falls right into my bowfishing plans.

blitzburgh 04-15-2012 06:06 PM

WOW!!!

da22y 04-15-2012 07:39 PM

The seat looked mighty comfortable, but how am I gonna seat sideway to get bait from my bait tank ?

The center hatch looked pretty "user friendly", much better than the old bungee style.

I have the Humminbird FF already... not fit this one.
Should have a "universal FF " instead.

Got my 2012 PA, and after I install a seat slider next week, I will be happy.
No regret ! :)

steveooo 04-15-2012 09:18 PM

The external wetmount for the 'ducer is awesome :luxhello: I also like that the steering that can be switched from one side to another. I got used to the steering on one side and make it work, but I always thought it should go on the other side.

I'm gonna have to take one for a test paddle....
