Regulations Cheat Sheet w/pics
2 Attachment(s)
Alright guys, I couldn't find anything that the DFG publishes that is easy to read, so I made a cheat sheet (time to start bringing home dinner!). I put down what I feel are commonly targeted fish in the Southern CA area. It is possible I missed one or two (did it in 30 minutes...) So if I missed something obvious, let me know and I'll add it!
Hope this helps you guys out there. Note- All info was copied from the DFG website. Reference links included in the document. Be sure to verify that info hasn't changed before you take this on the water! 2nd Note- I had to break it up into two files, BWE has a size limit on word doc's. Enjoy. :cheers1: |
Nice, a lot of people can use this.
Wsb. Limit of one till June something...:D |
Also a MAJOR update on the sheepshead!!!
Started in 2012 this year the DFG requires you to keep only gill and gut sheepshead untill in your home or residence! If sheepshead is filet before or apon arrive of home or residence and the DFG was notified huge fine will bite your wallet like a sheepshead would your finger!! |
Very nice. Thanks for taking the time to put it together.

Thanks MrM

There are a bunch of new regs on fileting fish. Halibut have special new filet regs too. Essentially you have to leave just about everything still connected.
|
Thanks for takin the time to put it together!:luxhello:
Now that is what BWE is all about! |
NM.
(c) Fish That May Not be Filleted, Steaked or Chunked: No person shall fillet, steak or cut into chunks on any boat or bring ashore as fillets, steaks or chunks the following: any species with a size limit unless a fillet size is otherwise specified in these regulations. California halibut may be filleted or brought ashore as fillets south of Point Arena (Mendocino County). (6) California halibut taken from or possessed aboard a vessel south of Point Arena (Mendocino County): Fillets must be a minimum of 16 and three-quarter inches in length and shall bear the entire skin intact. A fillet from a California halibut (flesh from one entire side of the fish with the entire skin intact) may not be cut in half fillets. However, a fillet may be cut lengthwise in a straight line along the midline of the fillet where the fillet was attached to the vertebra (backbone) of the fish only if the two pieces of a fillet remain joined along their midline for a length of at least two inches at one end of the fillet |

Not sure, but I thought there was a certain time of year you can only have 1 legal WSB? Am I wrong?

:you_rock: :luxhello:
Thank you for your hard work on this. Helps a noob like me. |
Found it.
28.35. WHITE SEABASS. (a) Minimum size: Twenty-eight inches total length or twenty and one-half inches alternate length. (b) Season: Open all year. (c) Limit: Three, except that only one fish may be taken in waters south of Pt. Conception between March 15 and June 15. |

I do not know the exact place to find that information. I was on the islander and brought in a shit load of goats and they told everyone that caught them that it was a new law set in place early this year about the sheeps. I am pretty sure you can call up the islander and ask them about it but I remember they had to give us all our goats whole only thing they could do to them was gut and gill them. |

We have had Hank Parker and Bill Dance to test them also. So machine and Pro tested and it is 100%. So come on give me something I would enjoy taking hahahaha |
Quote:
ROTFLMAO Hank Parker and Bill Dance good standards. When was the last time Hank was seen Ocean fishing and Bill is A guy that is more famous for bloopers then fishing. So what were the results, or did Bill drop them in the water and all the ink smeared? |
Quote:
If you have direct tv hank parker has been doing snook, bonefish, grouper fishing shows in the east coast. And bro you seem a little scared to really bet something worth my while. Remember the dog isn't scary when it is all bark and no bite. I have more fact on paper and can back up what I have. So come on this isn't bloody decks this isn't a place to be bitching over something stupid. I have my bets on the table and I am calling. Just let me know if you want all my proof of who has tested my hooks, which pros use them, what tv shows my hooks are on, how many different times my hooks have been tested and also my hooks are made by mustad. I am not here to give my product a bad rep. just to give fishing a better edge. |
Quote:
http://www.hankparker.com/ (did see mustad hooks there) http://www.billdanceoutdoors.com/partners__6.php btw ( Bill uses Gamakatsu hooks) As far as being scared to put something on the line, we can start with my livelyhood, cost of the machine is $100.00 hr min 4 hours plus the Tech that runs it, I cant post what he cost but its more then the min. per Hr. The certs that will be recognized world wide also cost into the thousands of dollars. As a busisness man trying to "just to give fishing a better edge" having something sold like the NIST to stand on would definitly put your product well above any other. |
ONE way to settle this:
You both bring your yaks and gear to PV this weekend. Fish with whatever hooks you want The man with the most fish wins. The other guy buys dinner afterwards. I'll be the judge.:D (got to feed the judge afterwards too.) |
Quote:
See you can find whatever you want on the net and we can argue on this back and forth but honestly it will make one of us look like more of a jackass then the other but I don't want that for either then us. Let me get all my books from the Warehouse here in town and I will P.M. you will all my certs., patons, all my Pro staff, all my test qualifications, and anything else and then we can put all this bickering to a holt. Because I have established my self well enough to be able to hold my self up on two legs just sometimes it gets under my skin have people push the buttons. |

Ok here are the official rules:
No fishing lines allowed Wooden hooks only You must fish a giant treble stinger You can only keep big "breeders" and juvenile fish. (that pisses everybody off) Bonus points for toad calicos You post a timely report with exact location We discuss which is better revo or outback Should be a blast! |
Quote:
1. hooks any kind of wood? 2. are toad calicos Green?(i'm not familiar with reptiles.) 3. by "timely report" you mean within 30 days? (cause i was just about to bump The mad scientist post on wsb?) 4. while discussing the revo vs outback can we also toss in the PA 12 vs 14 5. who is Candy riding with? 6. what was this thread about again? |
Quote:
The judge pays for breakfast at Ihop for all attendees. and bets wil be taking over the revo, outback, PA12 and PA14 fight. who is bringing the pacificos and ballis points?! and I think the thread was about yellowtail vs WSB? But who cares its great for the thread post right?!?!hahaha |
I have to say that those hooks work very nicely... Haven't lost one of them to a fish yet, well, except the Thresher's, they bit through the line.
