Hey Sir Spamalot. This is an OEX owned forum. At least contribute to the conversation before you prop your shop.

I don't know this place at all, and they might be really nice people. However, knowing that this site is owned and operated by OEX, and that the people at OEX are about the coolest people I've run into in any industry. Also knowing that OEX has done FREE work for people and Andy gives GREAT deals on the work he does charge for... All that pretty much makes anyone trying to parisatise this site look like HUGE DOUCHE BAGS.

Not a good way to start off.

Quick, everyone mob someone who actually supports OEX

That predator looks like a pretty sweet kayak :cheers1:

This kayak looks like it's going to be sweet. I think there are going to be a lot more fishing oriented kayaks coming out in the next couple years.

Wow. I could be totally wrong and if so, I apologize now. Looking at the www.piratekayak.com site. I did not get the impression that they sold or repaired any kayaks or sold accessories for kayaks. That they were a guide company targeting thresher sharks. In fact they have OEX Sunset link on their web page as a company that they do business with. And yes. I completely support OEX.

I had a chance to look at one at the Trinidad rockfish wars last weekend. The ocean reps were there toting how revolutionary it was. It looked like every other company's good ideas rolled in to one. Side mounting boards from a PA, hi lo seat from a Jackson or PA, flat deck for standing like a Jackson, rod tip protectors like a Jackson ect. It was nice looking but not really ground breaking. Personally I thought it had way too much freeboard. I Did like the one way scuppers. It was designed and marketed for skinny water back east where the Old Town name has a following. Tournament day we had 10' swells at 10 seconds, all the predator paddlers stayed inside in protected waters.

If so, why did he start a thread about a new kayak shop? A thread which was erased. Then he responds in this thread with a post about how he knows where to get a Predator.

If I'm missing something or read into all this too much, and he's legit, then I too apologize.

tacmik 07-29-2013 02:21 PM

If he had a post with a link to a kayak shop, it was deleted before I saw it. When he said he knew where to get one. I thought he was referring to OEX as the link was on his web page for guiding. I would not defend him if I knew he had a shop that was in direct competition with OEX. That's what I get for thinking.

popcorn?

DanaPT 07-29-2013 04:17 PM

the promo videos are cool, looks like a well designed kayak. Still missing peddles tho.

SJC91 07-29-2013 09:31 PM

Hi guys. New here...still searching for my first yak...this thing looks awesome. Does OEX have it in stock?

Edit: NVM! Just read the other topic lol

Hammerhead_77 07-30-2013 11:06 AM

Wow! That's a nice boat. Just add a mirage drive and you'll almost have a Pro Angler...:the_finger:

Socalkayak 07-30-2013 06:45 PM

Looks nice but with a hull weight of 72 pounds probably more like 90 pounds with extras on it you mine as well get a boat. Just like the PA cool to fish from but near impossible to bring across the sand. Bigger is not always better. Sorry. We as Kayak a Anglers need to be giving the right kind of feedback to the builders. We would like all the bells and whistles but still have a kayak and not a Boat. The challenge is to keep it light and stable with all the bells and whistles. Innovation is not just adding more stuff. We need to be able to launch where boats can not. With a 90 pound yak we are limiting or great sport to harbors and bays. Give our backs a break and innovate a light weight fishing kayak Please. Sorry for the rant.
