Open Bay Bass 2014

The 19th annual San Diego Anglers Open Bay Bass is set for Feb 1st

OEX is proudly sponsoring the kayak division once again this year. Ken R. got us into the top 20 last year. Let's get a kayak in the over all top 10 this year! You compete in both divisions with your $65 entry. This is a very cool BIG League fishing tournament. San Diego Anglers do amazing stuff with the proceeds all year.

print out the entry form and send it in with $65 check, disregard the need for proof of liability insurance, not required for kayaks.

I've always known the Kayakers to be individuals, I don't believe there are teams for the Kayakers

A question for past participants... would a Vittles Vault 15 or 25 size be enough to serve as a livewell in this tournament?

fishingfiend 12-04-2013 08:55 PM

kayakers pay an individual entry fee of $65 and we compete overall with everyone else. Minus the kayak bonus prize by OEX. :cheers1:
Last year was my first time and it was a great experience, minus the tough fishing conditions that day. Looking forward to another awesome event next year.

easyday 12-04-2013 09:06 PM

Definitely getting the day off of work for this.

Yes, I personally have the larger one, but the one you have will work. Do you already have it?

Although the rain wasn't too bad, I do hope it doesn't rain this year.

Not yet build is still on the drawing board. Trying to imagine how a 5 bass limit will look like inside and which size will fit better in the back of the P13.

Personally I like the larger of the vittle containers. I have a hook up for these that I can get you one for better than retail. I can build you one for $100. Comes complete with battery, 6 rod holders, pump and all.

I've used the coolers before and they work, but the sloshing of the water can make for an interesting paddle.

looking like the rain will come and go on Friday, 63 and mostly sunny for Saturday. Dwayne says 27 signed up right now, we usually get 30 to 40 people in the kayak division. If you would like to show up and pay the morning of, please print out the entry listed at the top of this thread and bring cash.

Look for Kim or me around 6 am to sign in. Bring your letter if you signed up and received!

Whale stuck in the bay

I sure hope the boaters keep their eyes open at the start, there's a baby whale stuck in the bay and I sure would hate for someone to hit it. Anyway, I really can't wait for this one, the breakfast is always fun and good, the fishing is always fun, and the awards lunch is fun as well. Let's hope a Kayaker wins it all this year.

Iceman 01-31-2014 05:58 PM

Some how I forgot to mention that this year the $500 voucher that OEX is sponsoring in the kayak division is being split. Although you would know if you read the entry form.
Some kayak fisherman will win $250 just for entering, this will be in the raffle. The Kayak division winner will receive $250 voucher and may win more as they place against the boaters as well as the biggest spotty and biggest bass over all. I hope we see more than 1 kayaker up at the podium tomorrow afternoon!

That's a very cool prize. I wish the fishing was better.

Bay Bass

Well it worked for me! 4 legal sandies and 2 legal spoties and Ken is dethroned:p:sifone:
My best in the OBB by far. Plan C worked

Thanks OEX and some of the usual suspects and some newbies for showing up and giving it a shot, and coffee and breakfast at the launch was a great way to start the day.:you_rock::arne1:
