Went out to La Jolla today. Awesome day out on the water. Launched before sunrise. Made bait in the dark and threw a Mac on the fly line and started working my way out. About 20-30 min later boom. Hooked up to my first ever yellow tail. Another 30 min later it was on the yak. 3rd time to La Jolla and like the 6th trip ever on a yak. Couldn't be any happier. Don't have a scale but fish was 41" long and felt pretty close to 30 lbs or so.

I could hear you shouting "hell ya!" from the 3/4! Thats when i came scrambling over to lurk... Too bad the school didn't stick around.

Congrats on the first yellow, its a beast. It's always cool to see someone soo stoked. Well done!

steveooo 03-24-2014 08:44 AM

Congrats on there nice fish. I like your style. Join the board saying you would like to try kayak fishing, jump in the deep end, buy a yak and actually get out there fishing, catch a fine fish as your reward :cheers1:

Lipripper92592 03-24-2014 09:39 AM

Thanks. I was so pumped catching that fish. I couldn't contain myself if I tried. I was so happy. I ended up calling it a day about an hour after I landed my fish. Cant wait to get back out there!!!!:D

Here is a pic that my new friend Danny took for me. I met him at the launch while I was staring out into the dark.

nice yella

Every yellow is nice, but it is always best when it is yours. Great job. That is definitely the first of many to come.

Very true. But only half as expensive it should have been.

Big time congrats on your first!
Very cool. I know I felt the exact same stoke when I picked up my first yella' from a kayak.

I saw you on the water. I was on the boat, we talked. You told us you just hooked up there. How cool... and unusual these days! :)
Loved your friendly attitude!!
Your stoke was contageous. I rubbed some of it off. ;)

lowprofile 03-25-2014 03:01 AM

Hell yeah! nice one! sure beats my first 6 trips. :D

I always measured my fish to the fork and found that 39-40" FL fish were 22-25lbs.

ratdog 03-25-2014 01:52 PM

Congrats, thats always an awesome feeling
