why

GR6RR 05-08-2014 11:40 AM

What ^ said.

I guess he loves eating sharks...

PapaDave 05-08-2014 12:03 PM

Other than he has a very small thresher, which I guess he could have released, and a fairly large leopard, why? Both species are good to eat.

TJones 05-08-2014 12:43 PM

Anyone working in middle of night

I would like to hang a live bait at the launch . Must be hundreds of them . Catch and release of course . That pup does look kinda small .

jorluivil 05-08-2014 12:44 PM

+1 on that. People may disagree but I've released plenty of thresher allot bigger then that and then kept one of similar size due to the fact that I don't have the means to keep any more meat in my freezer. You can only give so much away. I also don't like taking more than 1 per season

kareem korn 05-08-2014 01:34 PM

Fish on. :you_rock::rolleyes:

StinkyMatt 05-08-2014 01:40 PM

Those guys that keep YT under 30 pounds ......why would they do that?

We as fisherman....should be the last ones putting down other fishermen for making perfectly legal catches. I may not agree with his choice but who am I?

Some guys eat largemouth bass......many release.

Man, that kayak is WAY overpriced!

I guess if the new standard is "it's legal", than next time I land with a couple of these couple days old pups no one's going to have a problem than huh?

Fuckit, there's hundreds of them.

Dannowar 05-08-2014 01:53 PM

I like hamachi.

I'm pretty sure "legal" has been the standard for a long time. You might not like it but what can you do?

wiredantz 05-08-2014 01:56 PM

People have different opinions.

Where you can fish, and where you can't fish.
What you can keep and what you can't keep.

Where I can live and where you can't live.

We can't make everyone happy, and we also can't control people.

That's why people get together and make up all the regulations of what we can fish and what we can't.

TJones 05-08-2014 02:05 PM

hundreds of leopards

in a protected zone . international open waters is a different topic . something that has been around for millions of years . even man can find a way of fudging that up .

I thought it was because the guy wears socks with his sandals.

WildernessWanker 05-08-2014 02:30 PM

I'm surprised Matt is the only one that seems in more disbelief over the price of the kayak then the catches in back. I understand that yak is old but at that price he must consider it to be an antique and therefore a collectible! If I was to drop that much money on another kayak it'd never be that one.

You could land with six of those and I wouldn't care. Hell, I'd ask you if I could keep one for myself. I'm sure that we've all kept our fair share of 12" bass or 22" halibut............as long as its being consumed and not being tossed in the trash when you get home why argue about it?

Fact. Don't take more than you can eat. Usually release. I've caught big fish and released and kept smaller barely legals, just depends on how much room I have in the freezer

TJones 05-08-2014 03:50 PM

Bump

Sale still pending .

I sure would. Youre only allowed 2 no size limit. Maybe hes ignorant but Id let him know and depending on his reaction CalTip might be the next call...as if they could do anythin in time. They are around the popular launches though.
Legals legal and ethical is ethical.

I was saying 6 as a figure of speech, I know what the limit is. I also know that the bass size limit it 14" and 12" and that the halibut daily bag limit is 5 per day. don't take what I said the wrong way, I was just implying that if its legal..............its legal. Some might believe that its unethical to keep 5 halibut, or 10 yellows, or 3 wsb, or 10 rock fish but if its legal....................................you get the point :D

Now, as far as that hobie from 1895.................I wouldn't pay anything over $100.

Raskal311 05-08-2014 05:43 PM

How is the view on that horse? If you want to point fingers than I hope you catch and release 100% of your catch.

Zed 05-08-2014 06:30 PM

@jorvil Alright. Couldnt tell. And I figured you meant when bass were @ 12". 'Cause yes I have. I really dont care either what people take but I do follow the law and will let someone know that isnt.

@raskal Huh? What? Who's high on horse?

Responding to OP judging people he doesn't know and setting standards for the rest of us. And for the record I have released every shark I've landed.

For Reds, they look to be on the small side. And considering that her hair is dry, I'd have to guess that whoever took the photo got at least 1 of those.

jorluivil 05-08-2014 08:46 PM

I see a spear
I see a lobster

Spear + Lobster = No Bueno

Zed 05-08-2014 08:53 PM

The seastar looks small.

kareem korn 05-09-2014 07:41 AM

Rule of thumb is 100#+ acceptable to harvest. In the last ten years kayakers have set their moral standard at 50#. Which is a decent fish to catch off a kayak and is a fair amount of meat.
Now it looks like the new group of expert kayakers are lowering their standards to week old pups.
It's a shame.
But fuck it it's legal.

I'm not sitting high on the horse, but after 45 years of fishing the california coast I have common sense to know right from wrong.

Comparing a green bass to a new born t is stupid.
Walk up dvl ramp with a stringer of "legal" lmb. Show them around the parking lot. Post pics.
Tell me you wont get shit for that
