Islander Mothership Trip Schedule for 2015!

<hr style="COLOR: #ffffff; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff" size="1"> Here we go! If you've done these trips before, you don't need any convincing. If you've never done one, you owe it to yourself to get on one of these trips, they are unlike any other kayak fishing experience. As always, live bait, food and sodas are included in the price. Alcohol, Fish Cleaning, and Tip are additional.

No price increase on the trips this year.

All trips are aboard the Islander and leave out of Fishermans Landing in San Diego Bay.

1.5 day trip
$330 per person
Fishing SCI
May 15th-17th (Fri-Sun)

2.5 day trip
$545 per person
Fishing SCI
June 11th-14th (Thurs-Sunday)

We will have the same booking process, so take note of the following:

When you call to register your spot, we will take a $100 non-refundable deposit on 1.5 and 2.5 day trips. The only exceptions to this refund are if the trip does not run (due to weather, or lack of sign ups, acts of God).

14 days prior to the trips departure, we will automatically charge the remaining balance (if you need to pay by different method be sure to contact us prior to this date. Once the remaining balance is paid, that is also non-refundable. If you'd like to pay the trip in full at time of booking, that's up to you, but it will also be non-refundable in the event something comes up that keeps you from doing the trip. This year we would like to avoid doing "Payment Plans" on these trips, this makes book keeping straight and less complicated. We ask that you pay deposite or pay in full only.

*Special note from The Islander: For all 2015 charters ALL Hobie Pro Anglers will not be allowed on the Mothership Charters.

*Native Watercraft Slayers are allowed-

How many people do they take out on these trips?

619-SWIM-DOG 01-27-2015 06:39 PM

I'll be joining the 2 1/2 day. Wife gave me the thumbs up plus I have a 2 day boat trip in July.

Booked it 2.5, my first mothership trip. Stoked

EastLosYaker 01-28-2015 02:20 PM

Just reserved my spot! Can't wait for this one! Think they'll make a pit stop to pick us LA guys up??? Haha. Or maybe we can just paddle out from Cabrillo and the boat can scoop us up on the open water??? ...Just a thought

Fishin' Magician 01-29-2015 03:41 PM

What time does the 1.5 day trip leave San Diego and when does it get back on the Sunday? I have a Malibu Stealth 12, will that be okay to bring?

Aznronin 01-29-2015 04:03 PM

I was gonna go...but I noticed Stan is going...means there will be nothing but big wind gusts the whole trip. Lol

ship 4 brains 01-29-2015 08:13 PM

I was so bummed that they cancelled the 2.5 day last year. I'm in for 1.5 this year. See you soon Stan.

lbsurf2ca 01-30-2015 06:01 PM

The way this year is going we will likely be chasing tuna.

1.5 days is just not enough time. Booking 2.5 day tomorrow.

bluesquids 01-30-2015 11:37 PM

Only two trips? Any chance for additional trips, if these book up?

I didn't notice any wind gusts that were not manageable for a Malibu kayak fisherman.

You will meet down at the boat around 6pm and once everything is stowed away and checked in - they will push off to SCI-

You will get back Sunday Morning AM-

Yes S12 if fine for the trip

The Islander schedule is already a bit more booked due to the great expected early fishing in the spring/summer. If there are some cancelations we may get in another trip on the books.

Fishin' Magician 02-08-2015 06:05 AM

The Fishin' Magician is all signed up for the 1.5 day trip and looking forward to it! If the fishing stays as hot as it's been, hopefully the yellowtails will show up and cooperate. I could use a few more fish fillets for the smoker!

food4less562 02-09-2015 10:36 AM

How many spots left on the 1.5 and 2.5 day trip?

619-SWIM-DOG 04-01-2015 09:52 AM

What time does the 2.5 day depart? I have to put in leave at work.

lbsurf2ca 04-02-2015 07:30 PM

Not 100% but I Remember getting down there around six and the boat departing at 8pm.

I'll likely need this info as well. Hope the trip runs for sure. It's been a few years, i can't wait. The way fishing has been this year it could be epic.

GregAndrew 04-03-2015 02:51 PM

I am hoping for Tuna on the trip.:D

Fishin' Magician 05-04-2015 05:07 AM

Will any additional information be forthcoming regarding the day and a half trip on the 15th? Anyone have tips on what to bring and what not to bother with? While I've fished on the Islander before, this is my first mothership kayak trip and not sure what to bring and what to leave at home. Anyone been on one of these before who can provide a heads up? Thanks!

FlyinRyan 05-07-2015 07:24 AM

This will be my first kayak mothership trip as well. Figured I would bring everything but a sabiki rig. Just like any other day I'll probably use two out of five rods!! Just hoping the weather is a little bit better than it is now. See you there!!

Fishin' Magician 05-08-2015 05:13 AM

Okay, this is what I've been able to find out so far. Arrive at the landing around 6:00pm. Park in the main lot to unload (30 min. free parking) and then go and park on the street or in the lot across the street. Bring everything that you would normally use to kayak, (battery, fish finder, net, gaff, etc...). There should be live bait available (may not know for sure until we get on board), but bring lures, plastics and iron just in case. The crew will help load and unload the kayaks.

Not sure what else at this point. Should be a lot of fun and a new experience as long as the weather (and the fish) cooperates.

See you on the dock!

Definitely bring some halibut rigs. There are some slobs in the area. Since a lot of you will be first timers just ask John or Shane for advice on some good hali spots depending on where you guys end up.

Also make sure to bring some Irons. SCI has been hot spot for yellows this winter and spring.

Hopefully the wind wont be to bad. Spring time is always hit or miss and with the way the island is positioned finding protected spots can be difficult.
