That right there is a tortilla straightener. See, when your travelling down Baja and you're in between stops, running out of food...you take your crooked arse hardened tortillas and clip one onto this gadget. Spray your crooked arse hardened tortilla down with cool water and watch it unfold and soften up good as new...BAM!

With absolutely zero idea of what that thing is how would I Google it?

You are all way off. That there helps prevent swamp-nuts. Clip one to each side and the lanyard attaches to a bungee that goes to your paddle. With every stroke you get air flow to keep the boys cool and dry.

See what you miss out on when all you do is peddle?

Maybe Hobie will come out with one that attaches to the Mirage drive, but I would hate to see the lawsut when something gets caught in the chain

It is called –Knot Assist 2.0

After losing a good fish during my recent ¾ day trip, I checked out to see what could be a better knot for tying braid to mono. The easily broken knot was either an Albright, or a double uni to uni. I had tied different knots for different rods, so I cannot tell which one it was.

Anyhow, a knot called “FG” seems to have the good rating. However it is a bit complicated knot requiring tension while tying the knot and maybe three hands. Holding with tooth will do too, but I rather not use my teeth. This tool makes it much easier, though it came from Japan and the cost including shipping was $50.00

I would not use it for everyday fishing, but when you are after the biggies, I think it is a good idea.

First off I can't believe you bought this thing. Second part is that you paid $50.00, did you even shop around. Amazon has them for $35.00.

Just tie an RP knot, you will be fine. Sell that thing on ebay.

I did shop around. $39.99 plus $10.00 for shipping for this one. The ones which cost less, had higher shipping cost. One was $18.95 for shipping.

A meal for two at any mid to decent restaurant costs more. Several hrs. later it is defecated.

I did and the flou. line slipped when it was done.

Perhaps I did not do it right, I tied it ever so carefully.

Mahigeer, I think it's cool you found a gadget you like. Don't worry about the price (or the comments LOL), if you use it, and you like it, then good for you. I also LOVE gadgets and can appreciate the thought into making this thing. I use that knot myself, use my mouth and everything to tie it. Your gadget is inspiring me to come up with a diy gadget now, haha.

Not that's a complicated procedure to tie a knot.

I used to tie a Bimini twist to join my lines. I hated that knot. It was a pain in my ass to tie!

Then I found a uni to uni and if you tie it correctly it works great.

I've only had it fail once which was this year when I hooked a YT that took me into a passing boats prop. It wouldn't have mattered what knot I used since there is no stopping a speeding 35 foot boat no matter how I tied that knot. Plus it was a ten year old knot to begin with

But other than that one time the uni to uni has been flawless for me so far "knock on wood"

I also use a little knot glue that I found at bass pro shops to cover the uni to uni and it helps give is strength and smooths it out so it passes thru the guides without the mono/flouro tag end going click click click on each cast

Being a tinkerer myself I appreciate the work and thought that goes in making a gadget. There lies my weakness. I like to reward the effort.




I did use a super glue from harbor freight, which may have been different formula and perhaps that was the culprit.

I will get the Bass Pro glue just incase.

The BP brand works pretty good. It takes awhile to dry so I usually roll the double uni between my fingers while the glue is still tacky and it will create a bubble over both knots and make the flouro tag end lay down flat so it doesn't hit the guides

I'll try to remember to take a picture of the bottle when I get home. It is like the old bottles of liquid paper with a brush so you can brush it on the knot. I've had that same bottle for 15 years. I don't know how it hasn't dried up by now. But it still works like new

I know what you are talking about now. I use it when I am tying flies.


It is called a head cement I think. I got some from Sport chalet and it is called; "hard head". Made by Loon outdoors.


I should have used that.

It's actually called "fishin glue"

It says it's waterproof, scent less, and dries in 4 seconds or less (which it doesn't) more like 60 seconds or more

But it still works
