Non-Report...

...What do we need to do to get that camera lens cleaned up:y::spam:

Sherm 01-07-2010 12:35 PM

Maybe a ladder and some Windex.

Siebler 01-07-2010 12:41 PM

If only there was a tall, OEX Pro Staff member that was constantly in the area that could clean it for us.......

DESTROYER 01-07-2010 02:18 PM

Give me the word and I will do it!

Siebler 01-07-2010 03:21 PM

If you dont do it it probably wont happen Matt. Feel free :cheers1:

Billy V 01-07-2010 06:21 PM

Take your pick.

A. A Super Soaker filled with Window Cleaner.

B. A Water Balloon.

C. A Human Totem Pole.

D. A paint roller on an 8' aluminum extension doused with Windex.

I few mornings ago I checked the LJ web cam about 3 am. The moon was full and I wanted to check the surf before I made the drive from Vista. I was able to see the low tide surf but most of the screen was taken up by this strange glowing, quivering line with a glowing blob slowly moving up and down it. Have had no coffee yet so it took me a minute to come up with what I think was a spider making a trap out of the camera lens. I think a rag on the end of a jig stick will take care of the "spider web cam"

Whizz Bang 01-07-2010 07:12 PM

Sounds like a job for evereyone's favorite guide and his 9 1/2 feet of jigging fury.....

habanero 01-07-2010 07:22 PM

I second the motion :biggrinjester:

Billy V 01-07-2010 07:22 PM

There are 2 cameras down there, a round one, and a conventional security style camera, which one is the BWE camera ?

cioppino 01-07-2010 08:52 PM

I almost made a post yesterday when I checked the cam. I saw a fly squirming around in the web only to be attacked by the spider, wrapped up, and dragged off for lunch. It was like watching a show on discovery. Had to hit refresh three times to catch the entire saga. Very cool. There were also a few yakkers coming in which made me wonder if they were having as much luck as the spider.

greenscales 01-07-2010 09:17 PM

Don't kill the spider

Whoever volunteers to do it, make sure no one sees you and you have an <link rel="File-List" href="file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5COwner%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsoh tml1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml"><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:PunctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <w:DontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> </style><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]-->alibi. All we need is a bunch of Laguna based Peta activists adding spiders to the species we are endangering in LJ. If they can't close the water they will use spider homicide as a way to close the launch.

Tman 01-07-2010 09:27 PM

Clay got a BB gun for Christmas, sure he would be glad to take care of those spiders...

And no it was not a Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle...he'd shoot his eyes out...

Billy V 01-08-2010 04:54 PM

I went there today, its way too high to reach from the street.

We need a blaster water gun to shoot from the street and it will be clean.

or we can call....."The Ultimate Water Gun Cleaning Team" :)

T Bone 01-08-2010 06:31 PM

Whizz Bang 01-08-2010 07:03 PM

Two of them have tattoos....you can have the one with the biggest tatto.....it is only fair.:doh:I will warn you that the phrase "her vazhin hang like sleeve of wizard" may be appropriate.

DESTROYER 01-09-2010 07:43 AM

A tattoo with a girls a$$ crack with a bulls eye right above it holding what looks to be a martini glass...I bet you she knows how to party! Yes Please and keep the helmet on:reeling:

LipYanker 01-09-2010 10:27 AM

hahahah, this thread went from spiders slaying flies to butt cracks and martinis. I love this forum!

Billy V 01-10-2010 04:39 PM

I couldn't stand it anymore, so I went to Westmarine to buy a "Stream Machine Water Gun" to clean the friggen camera.

The gun shoots a legit measured 40 ft. (even though it says 70 ft.)

So off i went with the Home Depot bucket full of clean water and shot it 8 times. It barely reaches it, so I may opt for the Large Model, and keep this one for - Drive By Shootings on the Kayak. Look out Mtfker :bandit:

I suck at multiple choice.

OEX 01-10-2010 05:36 PM

Wax on wax off, job complete! We used the ShamWow! We accept tips in the denomination of beer!:)

Billy V 01-10-2010 05:41 PM

You should have seen the looks I was getting - LMAO

There were a bunch of beach zombies there watching the Sunset when I rolled up in a grumpy diesel dually and whipped out a space gun and home depot bucket.

People honestly took a step back....lmao.

OEX 01-10-2010 05:47 PM

Billy, I can only imagine what LJBTC security was doing if they saw you doing that!

BTW be careful with the camera we own it!

wade 01-10-2010 05:49 PM

Perhaps commission Mr. Jim Day to retrofit a squeegee onto Josh's Ulua?..

Willy 01-10-2010 06:57 PM

For the team!

:you_rock:
Thanks for taking care of that.
I live vicariously through that camera when I'm lashed to my computer 'working'.
Well done gents.

Willy

Siebler 01-10-2010 08:21 PM

Hey Billy,

What is funny is that we had cleaned the camera this afternoon.

Chris from the LJ store went down and cleaned it while I gave him direction as to what spots were still bad and helped him position it as it moved around abit during cleaning.

Billy V 01-10-2010 08:29 PM

I went down there at 4:15 and blasted it with clean water.

I guess it all worked. Did he use a ladder ? How did he reach it?

Siebler 01-11-2010 10:24 AM

My Phone says that Chris called me while cleaning it at 3:21 so we beat you by almost an hour :p

He climbed up and stood on the rail. Thats how TROB always does it too.

What is weird is that there is still a mark on the camera. I kept telling him about it but he couldnt get it off. Your water didnt either, Must be a scratch or something?

Awesome! All you needed was some motivation:cheers1:

Knowing that beyond my cubicle awaited a serious storm, that had already left me drenched during my lunch break, I wondered how good 'ol LJ was hanging in there. I decided to give it a look and to my amazement I noticed that the sand pile had been washed away as well as the beach. I just kept staring at water coming in as the rain water competed to get out and then out of know where THIS...

http://imgur.com/ufzMM.png

I jumped back in my chair, let out a yelp, then quickly hit the "Print Screen" button to capture this guy. Seriously freaked me out. Had that web been there this would have made for some awesome mid-day viewing.

Just thought I'd share my excitement, thanks OEX for putting up this cam so I too can live vicariously through it.

Iceman 01-19-2010 03:44 PM

augh! damn kelp flies!
