Only two weeks out and 60 people signed up so far. Come out and fish, win a prize and SUPPORT Heroes on the Water. Should be the biggest kayak event in So Cal again this year. Come on out and meet some of your local kayak fishermen, make new friends and ENJOY a great days activities. Tight Lines amigos.

Hey all. Let's make this the biggest ever and set a new record for participants in a kayak fishing tournament. Eleven days until the tourney. For all you newbies, don't be intimidated. Come out and see how the veteran kayakers, (old guys and gals) rig their yaks and get ideas for yours. Veteran kayakers, a chance to re-acquaint with those you have lost touch with over the years. All proceeds (100%) goes to helping those that have helped us. Great time, great friends, great food. Most of all, a great raffle to end the festivities. Sign up today with pay pal or on the day of the tourney. For those die hard kayakers, don't forget the all night parking lot party.

Iceman 04-04-2018 09:09 AM

Man the grill Mike! :D

The lunch we serve up is always REALLY good. Fish tacos, we have had yellowtail, thresher and even opah all courtesy of Catalina Offshore.

Halibut division! Winner gets a trophy stein, halibut carved pendant and Randy T just gave me a Torium 14 that will go to the biggest halibut too. The generosity shown from members of the kayak fishing community help make this such a cool event to be a part of! :notworthy::luxhello::notworthy: if no halibut are weighed in this will be given away in the raffle.

Access to OEX Could be Limited !!!

Hey all was talking with Ryan ( I think?) this morning in the parking lot at OEX and apparrently there is a half-marathon going around Mission Bay happening on the morning of the 14th.

https://sandiegobeachandbayhalfmarathon.com/

Looking through their website it appears that the course is will cross Mission Blvd at San Rafael St which is north of Santa Clara. Mission Blvd MAY BE CLOSED up there for part of the morning. You might want to plan on accessing OEX from the south using Mission Bay Dr to Mission Blvd to Santa Clara.

Race Course: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/fullscreen/1475642689/

I'm not 100% sure this is the best route and I haven't been able to find any notices about road closures related to the Half-Marathon event yet. But its something to think about and keep in mind as you plan for the 14th.

NY4Reels! 04-08-2018 09:31 AM

Is it possible to register for both the bass and halibut divisions? Pay a double entry and fish atrificials only?

Ok, thanks! Just asked because I usually catch Halibut as a bycatch while targeting bass.

Just signed up and looking forward to fishing my 1st MB classic !

GetBentFishing 04-08-2018 03:57 PM

Do we get any tickets with the sign up fee or are they purchased separately?

GetBentFishing 04-09-2018 12:56 PM

Also can we fish out passed the jetty? Rules say inside and outside the harbor as
Long as all rules are followed

Iceman 04-09-2018 01:17 PM

raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each, sorry none included with entry fee. Yes you can fish outside of the bay, weigh boats will only be within the harbor so you will need to bring in to weigh and halibut can be weighed at the beach.

KaptainKyle11 04-09-2018 03:59 PM

A buddy and myself just signed up under the card name, Dave Shively, but the guys that are fishing are:
Kyle McCann &
James Taylor
Can you let us know when it's updated?

Correct. Unless the weigh boat makes a wrong turn and "accidentally" turns the corner to go fish for WSB at La Jolla....

I'll be out there with a fly rod on Saturday. Not sure if I'll throw the fly solely, but definitely planning to get it wet...

I shot an email to the half marathon people about Road closures and this is what they said, Sea World Drive and Mission Bay Drive will be closed from 4:00am-8:00am. Thanks for bringing up the topic!
