Navionics for your Droid Phone

I'm proud to say that I have a Droid phone and not one of those Iphones, although my has an Iphone I like the droids better. Anyway I found a Navionics App for my phone. It costs $9.99 but that's better than paying $150 or more. This way if I'm not on my Yak I can still mark areas for future trips, and plan trips and such. I highly recommend it.

Let me know how well it works and if it doesn't delete your way points I'd be interested in getting it for my commando

If it works flawlessly, $10 is a really good price. The Apple APPs store also have the "Marine & Lakes" for $14.99.

This app with the "Lifeproof" waterproof case, you'll be set!

Chime back and let us know how well this app works.

You need to get the Navionics HD map. It cost a little more, but the stuff it has to offer is crazy. I have it on both my iPhone and iPad.

Did that thing hold onto the La Jolla Way Points? Look at it as an added part to the deal. :kayak-surfer:

I paid $9.99 for the app and it gave detailed readings of many of the lakes here in SD and the Bay and Ocean. Pretty worth the money so far.

I use motionx-gps on iPhone. Not to bad a gps for a dollar. A lot of nice extra details on the navionics, might have to upgrade soon.

Thanks Jimmyz for this post. I got the app to try out and found it useful in NPH over the weekend. The export of data and having it open in Google Earth with a Navionics logo is pretty cool. This $10 app is now going to cost me a liquipel coating or a lifeproof case.

I'm looking forward to trying it out myself more than just in and around the city. The graphics are pretty nice also.

Now all we need is a sonar app and we don't need the fish finders ;)Darren

If I was to purchase the app and had to replace my phone would I need to purchase the app a second time?

If it's an iphone/IOS device it will permanently be linked to your Apple ID, hence buy it once and keep it.

If you have something like a droid and you have a google account you can download the app strait to your google account so when you get a new phone all the apps pics etc... will be downloaded strait to your phone

jorluivil 03-28-2012 04:35 AM

I just downloaded the app........one word: WOW:eek:

My only concern now is the battery life on my phone

Jimmyz123 03-28-2012 12:56 PM

It's a nice little app. Have you scoped out any bodies of water near you to see the depths that it shows. The one I have shows depth changes, and all that fun stuff. I compared it to my new Lowrance FF that I got and the information is the same.

bus kid 03-28-2012 01:45 PM

looking at my phone I forgot I had GPS essentials.
Pretty good for free.

Jimmyz123 03-28-2012 02:05 PM

I have that also, but I wanted more of a navigation app with the possible Lake and Ocean topography.

For those of us non-techy here, can you give us an example of a practical application? So, you see depth and gridlines on a GPS map to target certain areas on a lake or in the ocean? Is that right?
