What Happened to the HOW Volunteers? WE NEED YOU!!!

Just wanted to pose a question....

What happened to all of the folks who used to volunteer regularly with Heroes on the Water?

We used to have many many volunteers from this group and now it seems that many of the people who were regulars last year and couple years ago are now MIA?

We have an event this Saturday 9/15 at Tidelands Park , and WE NEED HELP!! we would love to see you.

Even if you cant make it it to this event I would love some feedback from this group:

Is there something that changed in your mind that makes HOW not as appealing?

Is information about events difficult to find?

Are there too many events?

Do we need alternative locations?

Is the Eventbrite ticketing difficult to navigate?

Other Comments / Concerns?

I am soliciting honest and constructive feedback here so please feel free to add to the discussion in a positive or constructive manner. We want to be the best organization possible and to help as many veterans as possible. To do that we need to have enough experienced mentors to help with our events. we miss you and would love to see you!!

Thanks,

Bernie

I’ve been dying to make it to events this year. Our year as a family and my personal health (mobility) have been terrible. I’m going to try to come to tomorrow’s event to help with set up but I’ll have to leave early to take care of funeral arrangements for my mom.

I'm working my older son's Eagle Scout project tomorrow, otherwise I'd be there. I have next months on the calendar already though.

Thanks again for bringing my brother a yak for the last event. He had a blast.

Possibly adding more locations, most events are held in SD which I understand with hauling kayaks and all other gear is a hassle. I live in LA and part of the Army Reserve I promote this program to all my fellow soldiers since it has helped me with my PTSD and depression but all of them dread the 2 hour drive there fish than 2 hour drive back.

The SD trips for me are tough. The AM drive is early and the PM drive is HEINOUS.

Wife and I have decided to get a hotel room from now on, but that becomes expensive and then it needs to be less frequent.

The fact I also just sold my boat is now somewhat of a factor, although not completely limiting (I know I can always snag one of the chapter boats or borrow one from someone else.) Only temporary though as I still plan to buy a new one by the end of the year...
