Starting the new year right!

My plan this morning was very simple. Target the WSB and apply basic fundamental techniques, learned from Josh P, when fishing for these shy and elusive fish.

When I first met Josh he would call me "Gabe the one man band". He called me that because I made a lot of noise on the water.

1st lesson from Josh: be very, very quiet when fishing the ghost. So, I quietly paddled to the spot arriving around 7:30am and quietly cast my line, and waited. Ten minutes later my reel started to scream like it was being raped! As my rod went bendo to the max, I started to think 'please, please dont break off'.:reel: Twenty minutes later a big WSB pops belly-up. Yeah!! I called it a day, paddled back landing on the beach to the same baby waves from this morning.

And yes! My rods out number my wives shoes! She hates it and has plans to catch up.

Saw you paddling in with that one today. :wsb: Nice work! I was on the WSB hunt today as well, but came back empty handed.

Belly up? Just like mine. As much fight as these fish give you early on, it is really strange to have them suddenly stop at the very end.

Congratulations on a beautiful fish.

Bob

I may have fallen for some of your fish stories in the past, but I'm not falling for this one. You can't possibly have more rods than your wife's shoes.

Good job, Gabe. I bet you were pretty nervous considering how many you farmed last year. :farmer:

Thanks guys! And thanks for the picture on the water Bryan in the blue hobie kayak. A DFG officer checked me out as soon as landed on the beach for my license. I asked him what his thoughts were on the pending fishing closures. He said he thought the whole thing was ridiculous since there is only 11 DFG patrol guys like him from I.B all the way to Orange county and beyond. He finished by saying, "We don't want that" and I said, "we don't want that either!"
