Lost my Mirage drive...

If anyone finds a Mirage drive with turbo fins at La Jolla or hears of some being found, please let me know.

Lost at high tide, went back at low and couldn't find.

Thanks Dave

ouch that sucks, il keep my eyes open. how'd they fall out?

Dave I. 03-09-2008 03:52 PM

I got my first "Flip job" while trying to beach. they were out of the slot and bungee'd down, they came out.

I wasn't the only one, when i went back at low tide another guy was out there looking for his, too. So post up if smeone finds a set with standards fins on it.

I dont take mine out for landing. Even on rocky beaches, they hold their own. A few scratches here and there dont make a diff. When I do take them out, like in thick kelp beds, I have them rigged to attach to my paddle leash.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Hope you get them back.

thats 800 bucks worth of drive systems at the launch, i need to get a snorkel and fins

Standard drive is about $350.00
Not to mention rods and reals I have seen lost out there.
I have talked to divers who find loads of fishing gear at La Jolla. Talk about a gold mine.

Looks like I'm going snorkeling after work tomorrow. Got to get my stuff back and hopefully help out the other guy too.

Mirage drives are very easy to leash to your yak. Problem solved. I don't leave my drive in when landing on rocky beaches. I do some very rough Central Coast launches that would rip the crap out of a drive system. I made a drive mount on my Adventure by putting the main pin on the drive into the sail mount hole with the fins forward. I permanently attached 2 bungees with hooks (HOOK1) to strap the drive down. It looks like a factory drive mount.

I'll get a couple shots to post after work today. I went through my files and none of the pics show the modification clearly.

Dave I. 03-10-2008 02:12 PM

Well, i went snorkleing for about an hour today, no luck. I am hoping that the diver cert classes may find itat the edge of the canyon. I'll give it a week till i order another one.

lost drive

I too was unlucky and had the same fate as Dave on sun.so if anyone finds a std fin drive please let me know.thanks

I don't seem to able to get multiple pics in a post, so I will submit a small series of replies with pics of my Mirage Drive mount.

First I attached a leash to my drive and then mounted 2 bungees with end hooks and a flush mounted hook to hold the drive tight to the yak.

Insert the main drive pin into the sail mast hole, with the fins facing forward.
