Well scored the Avet mxj 5.8.1 for my birthday. I'm
planning on swinging by squidco tomorrow to throw some line on this and find a rod. Any thoughts?

X2. But I prefer a trigger grip on mine.

Fitty pound power pro or yo-zuri. Not sure your preference on rod. Whats it for? The avets can be pretty hard to cast a light jig with (really have to thumb it )If it is for throwing surface plugs though I'd go pretty light and something with a good taper. 15-40 maybe? I like this weight rod because it is nice and light up top for throwing jigs but if you hook a big fish you will have a lot of backbone to lift and wind, lift and wind. You may want to go even a little lighter for your jig stick but that is preference. If it is for trolling big baits I wouldn't go up too far from that 15-40 range. May want to go with a 20-40. Or maybe a 30-50. I have been slowly lowering the weights on all my rods because I used to think that the heavier the better, and have come to find out thats not always the case.:jig: ''?

Good luck.
