15 fish daily limits and 2500lbs boat limits?!?! Geez... we've come a long way. I can imagine how amazing the WSB fishery was like prior to the 1960s. Almost every salty dog I've spoken to who fished during the 80s have told me that the fishery is much healthier than it was at that time.

TLDR?

Super cool info Jim, thanks. There's a fleet of effective dudes up and down our coast including Mexico who I'm thinking don't get captured in the data. Surveyors are nowhere around when these guys come in but it's an experienced fleet for sure.

I also have to think since the 3 mile gill-net ban, there might be some commercial attrition or move to other species lowering catch but I wouldn't really know. The other info needed for true comparison would be gear type...length (if nets), qty of hooks and hours fished but that would be impossible to gather year after year.
