Minke Whale

pretty sure this is a minke and not a fin whale. Hard to tell much detail from this lil clip. I saw one several years ago come fully out of the water near the DP headlands as well. I would assume the regulars that fish here have had an encounter or 2.

I've seen em for sure. they are hard to go pro/video or photograph for that matter. they come and go so fast and film does them no justice unless you have a good camera.

looked like a great day to be on the water.

really nice morning, skipped the line at the barge and made some good mini macs and sardine about 100 yards south of the red can at headlands, then moved around in the deeper water looking for halibut. Had one that felt like the right kind but pulled the hook on the way up. Bonito were pin pricking my baits and lots of big mackerel around, caught a couple tossing the iron.

winds were super light all morning, my kind of conditions.
