Suprised none of you guys are interested in mothership/panga trip to San Martin. This is an oppertunity to fish the island for a day on your kayak.

Get two buddies together and take a three day weekend, summer is wasting. You worked hard this year, you deserve a weekend off. Tight lines.

Awesomeness! Let me know which weekend you want to roll Jimbo. Im sure we can find a third person to make this happen. If not I might be down to drop the extra hundred to make the trip a go.

Rob, you and Jim set the weekend and I am in. Tony said up to 4 so maybe room for one more!!!

This trip would make an epic video for sure! If they can safely and reliably transport those kayaks over to the island and back...It would be insane!

Glad your in Mako, its been too long since we fished together! August in San Quintin is gonna be hot hot but great for Peligics.

FYI I just remembered its my Grandma's 80th birthday August 9th so I can go any weekend in August except that one. I would never be forgiven if I missed that!

It looks like this trip is a go! Lets see which weekend works best for Jim

I agree.

I myself have my doubts about transporting 4 kayaks and four people from a Panga but you know how they do in Baja! Mexican's in general, I remember riding in my dads volkswagon with 7 others. To this day I still don't know how we all fit in that damn thing!

Sounds like its gonna be a great trip. I think you should join us ful-rac!

Tow them.

ship 4 brains 06-19-2015 03:39 PM

Silly question - but how do you get to San Quintin?

Down Highway 1. About 4-5 hour drive South of San Diego. Same way as going to Rosarito or Ensenada just more south.

TJ down MEX 1 to San Quintin. 250 miles or about 5 hours. Good road all the way.

ful-rac 06-19-2015 04:05 PM

Towing them would work, and is probably the only way to do it especially with PAs....but....somebody is gonna lose a handle or two or three...

Zed 06-19-2015 04:19 PM

Is your name Tony Murphy? Cause if it could go wrong it would be your PA.

Back when motherships were being introduced (Orion. What a tug.) we had to supply our own bow and stern lines for easy loading/unloading but also for daisy chains of kayaks (not PAs) on moves from spot to spot. I assume 4 kayaks daisychained behind the panga is what theyd do inSQ. Just hope the mouth isnt breaking.

tattuna 06-19-2015 06:10 PM

Myself, Grego, Gabe and Gabe's bro in law did a mothership from SQ to San Martin back in July of '07. We fit 3 of our yaks on a super panga and got dropped off at the island with Tiburon's Pangas. That was a fun adventure. Mostly smaller yellows and sandbass on our trip back then.
