humminbird wide eye 100... feedback please.

I'm looking at a used humminbird wide eye fish finder... The asking price is 60 us dollars. I've been seeing them on eBay, amazon, etc. New, going for 70 to 90 bucks, brand new. I would probably purchase one of these units new, considering the difference in price. I thoight I would get some feedback before buying it, though. My budget is around 120 out the door. I'm just starting, so I dont want to get crazy with buying top of the line stuff, just yet. Otherwise, ill scare the churros outta my wife and will get shut down... Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Look at the Lowrance X-4, 79.99. From my experience Lowrance/Cuda are way more durable and have much better customer service.

Cool... I'll start looking up the info on the lowrance x-4... I know the humminbird is good at approx. 600 feet and that is more depth than I plan on fishing... I'm new to the kayak fishing scene and plan on hitting up the shores, come spring...

I was at oex mission bay yesterday checking some of the gear they have and I was very impressed... Unfortunately, they won't be having a black Friday sale... Has anyone checked out REI for fish finders? They usually have some good deals. Just wondering... Thanks.

I actually just got rid of a HB 385i, I wasn't going to say anything but if you are considering Lowrance I would go that route only because I have had issues with HB quick connect head units in the yak, they do have very good customer service but the HB products don't fair so well in our
environment...:reel:
